Job Description:

Ignite is an ISO 9001:2015 and CMMI Services Level 3 certified, Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB), headquartered in Huntsville, AL. By design, Ignite is a provider of professional services to customers in educational, federal, and commercial industries and in every action seeks to be the preeminent provider within this business space. Ignite upholds our values of competency, collaboration, innovation, reliability, and results through everything we do.

Ignite is currently seeking a highly experienced and strategic Senior Site Reliability Engineer (Senior SRE) to lead reliability engineering efforts across mission-critical software platforms. This role focuses on ensuring the reliability, resilience, and operational performance of complex systems, including those the engineer did not originally develop. The Senior SRE will bring deep technical expertise to proactively prevent operational issues by improving system architecture, automation, and reliability practices across the software lifecycle. While participating in on-call rotations and serving as an effective incident responder when needed, the primary responsibility of this role is proactive reliability engineering—raising the reliability baseline across teams and platforms through foundational improvements. The Senior SRE will work closely with development and infrastructure teams to implement modern reliability practices including Kubernetes-based infrastructure, GitOps deployment patterns, progressive delivery strategies, automated rollback mechanisms, capacity planning, and disaster recovery (DR) strategies. Success in this role is measured by delivering high-impact, forward-looking engineering improvements that strengthen platform resilience, reduce operational risk, and enable development teams to deploy and operate software with confidence, with most effort focused on planned, high-leverage initiatives rather than reactive operational support. This position can be filled in Dayton, OH, Huntsville, AL, or St. Louis, MO. Contingent on contract award.
