Position Overview

iLAB is seeking experienced
Documentation Specialists / Technical Writers
to support a large scale IT modernization program within a government environment.

This role focuses on translating complex technical and business information into clear, structured, and user friendly documentation, ensuring alignment with PMO standards and program goals.

The ideal candidate combines strong writing skills with business analysis experience and thrives working across technical and business teams.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Documentation

  • Develop and maintain technical and business documentation
  • Translate complex information into clear and concise materials
  • Create manuals, guides, and system documentation
  • Manage documentation libraries and artifacts

Quality and Content Review

  • Review and edit technical documents for accuracy and clarity
  • Gather information from subject matter experts and stakeholders
  • Ensure consistency and adherence to documentation standards

Business Analysis and Requirements

  • Support or lead requirements gathering sessions
  • Document business requirements, user stories, and processes
  • Develop As Is and To Be documentation
  • Support process improvement initiatives

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Act as liaison between business and technical teams
  • Prepare executive briefings and documentation
  • Support cross functional collaboration and communication

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of technical or business writing experience
  • 5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst or similar role
  • Experience with Agile and Waterfall methodologies
  • Strong experience documenting requirements and processes
  • Experience working with cross functional teams
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio
  • Strong communication, writing, and organizational skills

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in IT, Business, Technical Writing, or related field, or equivalent experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with tools such as Power BI, Tableau, SQL, or similar
  • Experience with project management tools like Jira or MS Project
  • Certifications such as CBAP or PMI PBA
  • Experience in government or large enterprise environments
  • Strong problem solving and proactive mindset
