Job Title: Hardware Test Engineer

Location: Foster City, CA (Onsite)

Duration: 12+ Months

Job Summary:
Our client is hiring a Hardware Test Engineer to design, develop, and execute hardware validation and test solutions for component and system-level electronics. This role focuses on test engineering, validation, automation, and infrastructure development for advanced sensing and compute hardware used in vehicle systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute hardware test plans, test cases, and validation strategies
  • Perform component-level and system-level testing on prototypes and production hardware
  • Conduct functional testing, interface compliance testing, and performance characterization
  • Design and build test setups, fixtures, and test infrastructure (block diagrams, BoMs)
  • Develop test automation scripts using Python
  • Build custom test solutions (load simulators, test harnesses)
  • Use lab equipment: oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, VNAs, TDR, E-loads, environmental chambers
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (hardware design, systems engineering, suppliers)
  • Support test readiness reviews, design reviews, and data analysis/reporting
  • Maintain engineering documentation, validation reports, and compliance records

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
  • 4+ years of experience in hardware testing, validation, or electronics development
  • Hands-on experience with electronic systems testing (automotive, aerospace, or embedded systems)
  • Experience with PCB/PCBA design tools (Altium preferred)
  • Strong experience with lab instrumentation and measurement tools
  • Proficiency in Python scripting and Linux/Ubuntu environments

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s or PhD in Engineering
  • Experience with automotive systems, vehicle electronics, or embedded hardware validation
  • Knowledge of communication protocols: CAN, SPI, I2C, MDIO
  • Familiarity with data acquisition systems (Keysight, UEI)
  • Experience with test management tools (Polarion, Jira, Confluence)
  • Understanding of systems architecture, networking, and hardware interfaces
