Job description:

Under the direction of the Vice President of Administration, the HR Manager supports all business areas with multi-function Human resource responsibility including but not limited to; develop policy, directing and coordinating human resources activities, employment, compensation, benefits, training, compliance, employee services and administration.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manages the talent acquisition process, which may include recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of qualified job applicants, particularly for shop hourly, manager, exempt and professional roles; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
  • Plans and conducts new employee orientation to foster a positive attitude toward company goals.
  • Oversees benefit administration including enrollment, change reporting, and claims; communicates information to colleagues.
  • Administers and executes human resource programs that drive employee engagement including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
  • Provides project management leadership for projects including schedules, executing plans and integrating the activities of cross-functional team members. Communicates with colleagues, managers and benefit providers to provide information, assistance and resolution regarding employment, payroll, Family & Medical Leave Act (FMLA), short-term disability (STD), workers’ compensation, benefits, employee relations and terminations, ensuring compliance with federal and state laws.
  • Prepares employee separation notices and related documentation.
  • Advises management in appropriate resolution on employee relations issues. Leads the corrective action process for employees.
  • Advises department managers of company policy regarding equal employment opportunities, compensation, and employee benefits.
  • Maintains knowledge of legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions and ensures policies, procedures, and reporting are in compliance.
  • Oversees the analysis, maintenance, and communication of records required by law or local governing bodies, or other departments in the organization.
  • Analyze trends in compensation and benefits; researches and proposes competitive base and incentive pay programs to ensure the organization attracts and retains top talent.
  • Responsible for the Human Resource department operating procedures, record systems and the preparation of periodic reports and summaries to keep management appraised of activities.
  • Creates learning and development programs and initiatives that provide internal development opportunities for employees.
  • Assist with Safety and environmental training, compliance, administration, and avoidance.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education, Experience & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field, or equivalent experience
  • HR Certification (e.g. PHR/SPHR, SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP) preferred
  • At least 10 years of progressive Human Resources experience, with a minimum of five years of Human Resources Management in a Manufacturing environment required
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including MS Excel graphs, pivot table, formulas, etc.
  • Excellent verbal, writing, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Comfortable working in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
  • Experience, drive, and demonstrated success in building relationships
  • Knowledge of computers, Windows environment including MS Office Suite and exposure to ERP systems
  • Fluent reading, writing, and speaking English with excellent communication skills

Tact and discretion must be used in all dealings with all customers and potential customers to maintain a positive image of the company. A Confidentiality Agreement must be signed as a condition of employment.
