Role summary
Lam Research is seeking a Test Engineer to join its Global Operations Group. This role focuses on verifying product functionality, ensuring reliability, and safeguarding quality throughout the manufacturing lifecycle. The Test Engineer will design and implement testing methods, perform diagnostic tests, create specifications, and optimize test processes to improve quality and reduce cycle time. Responsibilities include transitioning new products from pilot to manufacturing, resolving test issues, analyzing data for root cause, and presenting designs. The ideal candidate will have experience with Python for test automation, electro-mechanical troubleshooting, DFMA, and engineering change management.

What You’ll Do

The candidate will be responsible for transitioning test on new products from Pilot to Manufacturing, resolving any manufacturing floor test issue(s), improving product quality, and reducing the test cycle time.
- Works cross functionally with design engineering and the pilot group for new product development
- Ensures PDR / NCI / CO / NCE deliverables are in place including test fixtures, test procedures, test specifications, and control charts
- Conducts validation on all new test software and fixtures
- Has a working knowledge of SAP functions for manufacturing
- Defines, designs, documents, builds, calibrates, troubleshoots, and supports all manufacturing test fixtures
- Software skills to create / modify manufacturing’s test scripts
- Improves product quality through test first pass yield and trend data. Analyzes factory non conformances and field escalations for root cause and corrective action
- Resolves test issues cross functionally with Suppliers, Supplier Engineering, Pilot Manufacturing, and Design Engineering
- Presentation skills to present test fixture designs, test processes or spec changes at engineering design reviews
- Defines and implements metrics to lead test process improvements
- Technical writing skills to communicate and document designs and procedures
- Verbal communication skills to discuss technical issues with Suppliers, Supplier Engineering, Pilot Manufacturing, and Design Engineering
- Ability to accomplish assigned tasks with minimal technical guidance
Who We’re Looking For
- Minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree (Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or Computer Science); or Master’s degree (Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or Computer Science) with 3+ years’ experience; or equivalent experience
- Experienced with Python coding language for automating test scripts, tracking metrics and interfacing with third party devices
- Skilled troubleshooting capabilities in the areas of electro/mechanical assemblies
- Solid understanding of manufacturing processes
- Proficient in Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) with approach to structured problem-solving and decision-making
- Experience in Engineering Change Management Process
- Understanding of test FPY processes\procedures

Salary
CA San Francisco Bay Area Salary Range for this position: $86,000.00 - $192,000.00.
The above salary range for this position is relevant to applicants that reside or work onsite in the California, San Francisco Bay Area only. Salary offers will depend on factors that include the location you work from, your level, education, training, specific skills, years of experience and comparison to other employees already in this role. Actual salary may vary from salary offered due to numerous factors including but not limited to unpaid time off, unpaid leave, company mandated shutdown, and other relevant factors.
