Role summary
The Sr. Tosca Automation Engineer is a contract-to-hire role focused on designing, writing, and maintaining Tosca automation scripts and assets for critical applications, primarily SAP and Salesforce. This role involves integrating test automation within the enterprise toolchain, including Tricentis Tosca, qTest, and CI/CD pipelines. Key responsibilities include building and evolving automation frameworks for SAP and Salesforce, automating API services, orchestrating test execution, and driving quality metrics. The engineer will act as a technical SME, mentor others, and collaborate with product teams to ensure testability and readiness. This position requires onsite presence on Tuesdays and Thursdays in Columbus, OH or Merrillville, IN.
Sr. Tosca Automation Engineer
Role Overview
- Contract-to-hire position responsible for designing, writing, and maintaining Tosca automation scripts and assets.
- Key contributor on the Value Stream Team (VST) to ensure reliability and quality of critical applications (primarily SAP and Salesforce).
- Integrates test automation within enterprise toolchain (Tricentis Tosca, qTest, CI/CD).
- Onsite presence required in Columbus, OH or Merrillville, IN (Tuesdays & Thursdays).
- May include Test Lead duties requiring leadership and coordination skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain Tosca automation assets with a focus on reusability, optimization, and data-driven testing.
- Act as the technical SME for Tosca automation and related testing methodologies.
- Build and evolve automation frameworks for SAP (GUI/Fiori) and Salesforce (Lightning), including API integrations.
- Implement integration and end-to-end testing across SAP and Salesforce workflows; design stubs/mocks as needed.
- Automate REST/SOAP API services using Tosca API Scan, handling tokens, correlations, and chained calls.
- Orchestrate distributed test execution and CI/CD runs; publish results to qTest for traceability and reporting.
- Collaborate with product teams to define testability, test data strategies, and environment readiness.
- Drive and report on quality metrics such as automation coverage, pass rates, and defect triage.
- Establish and enforce standards for naming, folder structure, versioning, and code reviews of Tosca assets.
- Mentor and enable other engineers on best practices and advanced automation techniques.
- Coordinate with performance/security teams for non-functional testing alignment.
- Support UAT and release activities; contribute to defect prevention and continuous improvement.
- Serve as primary VST liaison for support, incident resolution, and configuration.
- Communicate test results and insights to stakeholders at all levels.
Required Experience
- 5+ years in QA/Test Automation, with 3+ years focused on Tricentis Tosca.
- Hands-on experience writing and maintaining Tosca scripts for complex enterprise applications.
- Practical exposure to SAP and Salesforce environments.
- 3+ years of API testing (REST/SOAP), including JSON/XML validation and authentication flows.
Preferred Qualifications
- Tricentis certifications (Automation Specialist, Test Design Specialist, SAP Specialist).
- Experience in utilities/energy sector or large-scale ERP/CRM systems.
- Familiarity with performance testing (NeoLoad), service virtualization, and test data management.
- Experience optimizing automation for Salesforce Lightning and SAP applications.
- Experience with automation governance and enterprise frameworks.
- Mobile application testing experience.
- Experience with Tricentis qTest and other test automation tools.
- Competency in setting up and managing CI/CD pipelines.
