Role summary

LendingClub is seeking a Lead QA Engineer to join their Financial Cores Team. This role involves providing thought leadership in test automation framework development, owning and delivering test automation scripts, and conducting code/design reviews. The Lead QA Engineer will drive testing efforts, coordinate with scrum teams, and ensure quality from development to production. Key responsibilities include defining and implementing quality metrics, supporting production troubleshooting, and promoting testing best practices. The position requires 8+ years of test automation experience, proficiency in JavaScript, Java, and Python, and expertise in CI/CD methodologies, API testing, SQL, and distributed systems.

About The Role
We're looking for a Lead QA Engineer to join our Engineering team. You'll have an opportunity to play a key role in our company’s growth initiatives on our Financial Cores Team.
What You'll Do

  • Provide thought leadership in evolution of our test automation frameworks from the ground up into a continuous integration, continuous deployment, and continuous delivery model
  • Own and deliver test automation scripts in service to our core revenue offering product features
  • Provide oversight through code and design reviews for features delivered by other engineers within their scrum team
  • Use your seasoned modern-day engineering methodologies to help drive testing and coordinate with scrum team and functional counterparts in overseeing bug tracking, test prioritization, test automation and release
  • Proactively push for testing workflow automation
  • Support production troubleshooting
  • Lead testing efforts for medium to large size projects. Full ownership of system/component /end to end quality from development to production
  • Own and promote testing best practices
  • Drive definition and implementation of key quality metrics (test coverage, test reliability, defects, etc) for product

About You

  • 8+ years of test automation experience and bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, or related field; or equivalent work experience
  • Experience writing test automation scripts in JavaScript and Java programming languages
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, JavaScript, and Python
  • Experience in CICD methodologies and tools
  • Expertise in third party software integration and testing
  • Experience testing RESTful API applications and Web Services
  • Hands-on experience and familiarity with test frameworks and tools
  • Experience with designing test cases and test scenarios to test software
  • Strong knowledge of SQL and experience working with relational databases such as MySQL, Oracle, or PostgreSQL
  • Experience in working with distributed systems, understanding of micro services and web architectures, strong debugging and analytical skills, and strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to communicate technical information in a clear and concise manner and coordinate cross-team efforts

Work Location
San Francisco
The above locations are eligible offices for this role. The locations have been determined to foster in-person collaboration with this role’s team or the related business lines. We utilize a hybrid work model, and our teams are in-office Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. In-person attendance is essential for this role’s success, and remote placement will not be considered. LendingClub offers relocation, based on actual job level.
Time Zone Requirements
Primarily PT
While the position will primarily work local hours, LendingClub is headquartered in Pacific Time and our ideal candidate will be flexible working across time zones when necessary.
Travel Requirements
As needed travel to LendingClub offices and/or other locations, as needed.
Compensation
The target base salary range for this position is 160,000-185,000. The base salary of the role will be determined by job-related knowledge, experience, education, skills, and location. Base salary is just one part of LendingClub’s Total Rewards package. You may also be eligible for long-term awards (equity) and an annual bonus (which is based on company performance, employee performance and eligible earnings).
