Role summary

Seeking a Senior Data Engineer for a 100% remote role to design and develop data systems and platforms critical to the Platform Ventures business. This role requires strong technical leadership and hands-on expertise in solving complex data challenges. Responsibilities include designing and implementing scalable data lakehouse architectures, building high-performance data pipelines using Python, PySpark, and AWS Glue, optimizing Spark and Redshift performance, orchestrating workflows with Apache Airflow, and implementing CI/CD for data workflows. The ideal candidate will have 7+ years of experience in data warehousing and multidimensional database architecture, with significant experience in SQL, Python, and AWS services.

Senior Data Engineer

100% Remote

Overview

As a Senior Data Engineer, you will work on data systems and services alongside other data engineers to deliver projects and platforms critical to the Platform Ventures business. This role requires strong technical leadership, hands‑on expertise, and the ability to solve complex data challenges while helping the organization continue to build scalable, high‑quality solutions for customers.

Role Summary

The Senior Data Engineer will design and develop data pipelines, data marts, and schemas to support enterprise data warehousing environments and advanced analytical requirements.

Data Platform & Architecture

  • Design and implement scalable data lakehouse architectures using AWS S3, Delta Lake, and Redshift
  • Build and maintain high‑performance data pipelines to ingest, transform, and curate large datasets
  • Define best practices for data modeling, partitioning, and storage optimization within a lakehouse and medallion architecture
  • Develop and maintain data cataloging and metadata management solutions

Data Engineering & Processing

  • Develop ETL and ELT pipelines using Python, PySpark, and AWS Glue
  • Build and maintain robust batch and streaming data pipelines
  • Implement transformation workflows using DBT
  • Optimize performance for Apache Spark workloads and Amazon Redshift queries

Workflow Orchestration

  • Design and maintain workflow orchestration using Apache Airflow
  • Monitor pipeline performance and implement alerting, failure handling, and recovery mechanisms

Data Governance & Quality

  • Implement data validation, lineage, and monitoring frameworks
  • Maintain data documentation and integrate with enterprise data catalogs
  • Ensure data reliability, consistency, and security across all platforms

DevOps & Automation

  • Implement CI/CD pipelines for data workflows
  • Automate testing, deployment, and monitoring of data pipelines
  • Use infrastructure‑as‑code practices to maintain reproducible and scalable environments

Collaboration

  • Work closely with data consumers, analysts, and platform engineers
  • Enable self‑service analytics through well‑structured datasets and semantic data models

Minimum Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in data warehousing or OLAP environments
  • 7+ years of experience in multidimensional database architecture, data modeling, and design
  • 5+ years of advanced SQL experience
  • 3+ years of Python development experience
  • 2+ years of experience with Amazon Redshift
  • 2+ years of experience with NoSQL databases
  • Experience managing teams and vendor partners
  • Strong understanding of web development principles and techniques
  • Experience with AWS Glue, Lambda, Step Functions, and Apache Airflow
  • Experience ingesting data from APIs
  • Strong background in dimensional data modeling
  • Experience with formal systems development life cycle methodologies
  • Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines for data workflows
  • Experience working with data catalogs and metadata management solutions

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience operating and supporting AWS data warehouse platforms
  • Experience with Tableau, Amazon QuickSight, Looker, big data platforms, and real‑time BI solutions
  • Experience with streaming data technologies
