Role summary

We are seeking a Business Intelligence Data Engineer with strong SQL and data modeling experience to build and mature our analytics and modeling layers. This role will focus on defining and standardizing KPIs, business logic, and data models that power reporting and decision-making. You will work closely with the Tableau team to develop performant, reliable queries and datasets for dashboards and analytics. Key responsibilities include developing complex SQL queries in Snowflake, designing analytical datasets, supporting dimensional modeling, and ensuring data quality. The ideal candidate has 3-5 years of experience in BI or data-focused roles with expertise in SQL, data modeling, and BI tools.

Role Summary

We are seeking a Business Intelligence Data Engineer with strong SQL and data modeling experience to help build and mature our analytics and modeling layers.

This role will focus on defining and standardizing KPIs, business logic, and data models that power reporting and decision-making. You will also work closely with the Tableau team to develop performant, reliable queries and datasets that support dashboards and analytics use cases.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and optimize complex SQL queries in Snowflake
  • Design, build, and maintain analytical datasets and curated data models
  • Contribute to the development and evolution of the analytics and modeling layers
  • Partner with stakeholders to define, document, and standardize KPIs and business metrics
  • Translate business processes into clear, consistent data definitions and logic
  • Support dimensional modeling efforts (fact/dimension design, star schemas)
  • Build and optimize queries and datasets to support Tableau dashboards and reporting needs
  • Collaborate closely with the Tableau team to ensure data is performant, accurate, and easy to use
  • Prepare and structure data for AI-driven BI use cases
  • Support ETL and ELT processes in collaboration with IT (Matillion)
  • Assist with pipeline monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimization
  • Ensure data quality, validation, and documentation across datasets
  • Track work and collaborate using Jira

Required Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience in BI, analytics, or data-focused roles
  • Strong SQL skills including complex queries and performance tuning
  • Strong understanding of data modeling (dimensional modeling, star schemas, fact/dimension design)
  • Experience building datasets or queries for BI tools (Tableau, Power BI, etc.)
  • Experience defining metrics, KPIs, or business logic for reporting
  • Experience working with Snowflake or similar cloud data platforms
  • Ability to translate business requirements into structured data models and datasets

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with Matillion or similar ETL/ELT tools
  • Experience supporting Tableau data layers and dashboard performance optimization
  • Familiarity with semantic layers or metrics layers
  • Basic Python skills for data transformation or automation
  • Telecommunications or subscription-based business experience
  • Experience improving data consistency, governance, and model design
