Role summary

Meta Superintelligence Labs is seeking a Research Scientist to build foundational technology for real-time AI characters and LLMs, and launch new GenAI experiences. The role involves research in voice modeling (ASR, TTS, voice cloning) and supporting ML platform priorities. Candidates should have a strong track record in ML or ML infra, with experience in areas like LLM, NLP, multimodal AI, and conversational AI. A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and 6+ years of programming experience (or 3+ years with a PhD) are required. Preferred qualifications include experience with scripting languages like Python, PyTorch, TensorFlow, and developing ML models at scale, along with knowledge of AI ethics and integration.

We are an ML team at Meta Superintelligence Labs building the foundational technology to fuel the future of immersive real-time AI characters and LLMs, as well as prototyping and launching various 0->1 experiences across MSL flagship products and Family of Apps. This is an exciting time to join and build things from the ground up and chart new frontiers in the GenAI space.
Research Scientist Responsibilities:

  • The role will conduct research in the voice modeling domain (ASR, TTS, voice cloning) and unblock more support to top priorities such as Creation tooling and ML platform, post-training for memory and personalization, and eval platform for emerging experiences
  • We are looking for those who have experience working on a range of relevant ML areas or ML infra, e.g., LLM, NLP, multimodal (voice, vision), recommendation, ranking, optimization, conversational AI, ML efficiency, evals, etc

Minimum Qualifications:

  • - Track record of setting technical direction for a team, driving consensus and successful cross-functional partnerships
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience
  • Experience building maintainable and testable code bases, including API design and unit testing techniques
  • 6+ years of programming experience in a relevant language or 3+ years of experience + PhD

Preferred Qualifications:

  • - Exposure to architectural patterns of large scale software applications
  • Experience with scripting languages such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, Python, JavaScript or Hack
  • Experience building and shipping high quality work and achieving high reliability
  • Knowledge developing and debugging in C/C++ and Java
  • Experience improving quality through thoughtful code reviews, appropriate testing, proper rollout, monitoring, and proactive changes
  • 2+ years of experience in one or more of the following areas: machine learning, recommendation systems, pattern recognition, data mining, artificial intelligence, or a related technical field
  • Experience with developing machine learning models at scale from inception to business impact
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements)
  • Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews)
  • Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies

Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base hourly rate, monthly rate, or annual salary only, and do not include bonus, equity or sales incentives, if applicable.
