Role summary
ModelCat is seeking a Senior Account Executive to drive revenue growth and scale its go-to-market strategy in the edge AI and embedded systems market. This pivotal role requires a quota-carrying B2B SaaS sales professional with 10+ years of experience, including selling technical SaaS products to practitioners and experience in early-stage startups. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the embedded systems, edge AI, IoT, or semiconductor ecosystems, and familiarity with deploying ML models on resource-constrained devices. Experience in the semiconductor or embedded systems industry is preferred. The role involves developing outbound sales strategies, exceeding revenue targets, leading complex technical sales cycles, and collaborating cross-functionally. Proficiency in sales methodologies like MEDDPICC, SPIN, or Challenger, strong CRM hygiene, and executive negotiation skills are essential. The Opportunity
We're seeking our first sales hire to drive revenue growth and scale our go-to-market strategy. This is a pivotal role for someone who can successfully execute an outbound sales motion in the rapidly evolving edge AI and embedded systems market. You'll be instrumental in establishing ModelCat as the standard platform for on-device AI model development.
What You'll Do
Leadership
Develop and execute an outbound sales strategy targeting IoT device makers, automotive companies, industrial automation firms, and embedded systems developers.
Revenue Generation
- Own and exceed revenue targets while maintaining healthy pipeline metrics and forecast accuracy.
- Lead complex, technical sales cycles with engineering teams, product managers, and C-level executives
- Identify and pursue high-value enterprise opportunities in target verticals.
- Service inbound and partner referred opportunities while focused on outbound sales.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work across the organization and with partners to deliver solutions to customer problems.
- Collaborate with Customer Success to ensure seamless handoffs and expansion opportunities.
- Provide market intelligence to inform company strategy and product direction.
Who You Are
Required Experience
- 10+ years of progressive B2B SaaS sales experience as a quota carrying professional with a strong track record of making or exceeding sales targets.
- Solid experience selling SaaS products to technical practitioners in categories like software developers, info security, networking or AI.
- Experience working in early stage startups, selling visionary products.
- Background in semiconductor or embedded systems industry, preferred.
Industry Knowledge
- Strong understanding of the embedded systems, edge AI, IoT, or semiconductor ecosystems.
- Familiarity with the technical challenges of deploying ML models on resource-constrained devices.
- Existing relationships with key players in semiconductor, automotive, industrial IoT, or consumer electronics industries highly valued.
Skills & Attributes
- Structured approach to selling based on MEDDPIC, SPIN, Challenger etc.
- Sales hunter mentality with experience selling new category type products.
- Strategic thinker who can also execute tactically and lead deals directly.
- Good CRM hygiene.
- Exceptional ability to communicate complex technical value propositions to diverse audiences.
- Resilient, adaptable, and comfortable with the ambiguity of a fast-moving startup environment.
Executive Presence
- Confident presenting to and negotiating with C-suite executives.
- Ability to represent ModelCat at industry conferences, with partners, and in strategic meetings.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
