Role summary

The Department of Health, Center of Health Protection, Bureau of Vital Records and Health Statistics is seeking an Associate Data Analyst to register vital records, perform quality control on received data, and ensure timely registration of vital events. This role provides state office support and oversight to various facilities for fetal death, birth, and death registration processing. The analyst will ensure records meet registration and statistical reporting requirements, compile and review data for quality, and research data irregularities. The position requires effective communication with external entities and internal partners, strong attention to detail for error documentation, and experience in data quality and analysis. A High School diploma or equivalent and six months of related experience are required.

$26.57 - $39.86 Hourly
$55,273 - $82,909 Annually

Why does the job exist?
This position will register vital records that occurred in the state. Do quality control on data received for all vital records. Ensure vital events are registered in a timely manner to provide statewide customer service. Work on data quality control for birth and death registration as well as induced terminations of pregnancy (ITOP) reports. Provide state office support and oversight to hospitals, midwifery facilities and mortuaries for fetal death, birth and death registration processing.
How does it get done?
Provide state office support and oversight to hospitals, medical certifiers, mortuaries and local public health offices for fetal death, birth and death registration processing and issuing. Ensure records meet registration and statistical reporting requirements. Provide coordination to ensure and maintain timeframes of statistical and administrative data production. Compile and/or review data for quality and registration purposes. Research data irregularities identified in processing or through data analyses.
Who are the customers?
This position works with hospitals, midwifes, physicians, medical certifiers, mortuaries and funeral homes to assist in the completion of birth and death certificates. Federal and state partners who use the data. Customers who are in need of their birth certificates or family members death certificate.

Experience in working with data quality and analysis to maintain timely and accurate data
Multitask and change job duties at any given time.
Minimum Qualification
High School diploma or equivalent and six (6) months of experience directly related to the position in research, statistics, computer science, data analysis, accounting, auditing, finance, economics, business, public administration, budgeting, management, and/or systems analysis or related professional certification as determined by the hiring agency. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling six (6) months may substitute for the required experience.
Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.
Working Conditions
Office setting, exposure to Visual/Video Display terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and telephone usage with extended periods of sitting. Must be able to lift 25 lbs).
