This is a paid internship. The Cybersecurity Analyst Intern will support the organization’s cybersecurity and compliance efforts by assisting in the review, validation, and alignment of IT and cybersecurity policies, procedures, and technical controls. This role works closely with the IT Manager, Cyber Security Director, and IT Operations Lead/ISSO to ensure that documented policies accurately reflect operational practices and that required security controls are properly implemented and functioning.
This internship provides hands-on experience in governance, risk, and compliance (GRC), as well as exposure to real-world cybersecurity operations within a structured enterprise environment.
Key Responsibilities
Policy & Documentation Review
- Assist in reviewing cybersecurity and IT policies, standards, and procedures for accuracy, clarity, and completeness
- Validate that policies align with current operational practices and technologies
- Identify gaps, inconsistencies, or outdated content and recommend updates
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work directly with the IT Manager and Cyber Security Director to validate policy intent and business alignment
- Coordinate with the IT Operations ISSO to ensure technical controls support policy requirements
- Control Validation & Compliance Support
- Assist in verifying that required security controls are implemented and functioning as intended
- Support mapping of technical controls to policy requirements and applicable compliance frameworks (e.g., CMMC, NIST, etc.)
- Participate in internal audits, control reviews, and evidence collection
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain clear documentation of findings, updates, and recommendations
- Help develop reports and summaries for leadership on policy alignment and control effectiveness
Continuous Improvement
- Contribute to improving processes for policy management and control validation
- Stay informed on cybersecurity best practices and emerging standards
- Fluency in English (written and spoken)
- Clearance Eligibility: Must meet eligibility requirements to obtain US Security clearance
Education
- High School Diploma required; Associate degree preferred
- Currently enrolled in or recently completed college-level coursework preferred
Required Skills, Experience & Abilities
- 1–2 years of exposure to security concepts such as access control, endpoint protection, or incident response
- Basic understanding of IT and Cyber Security principles
- Familiarity with Microsoft 365, Windows 10/11, and basic networking.
- Ability to follow structured processes in security-conscious environments.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to lift and move typical IT equipment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Self-motivated and organized; capable of working independently, handling multiple tasks, and prioritizing in a fast-paced setting.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Intune, Ninja RMM, and Spiceworks.
- CompTIA A+, Network+, or Security+

- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs on occasion
- Ability to lift up to 15 pounds (e.g., transporting laptop, presentation materials, or small equipment).

- Clear vision and hearing required for meetings, presentations, and communication.
- Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
- Professional office environment with standard office equipment (computers, phones, printers).
- Frequent interaction with clients, executives, and government officials in both in-person and virtual settings.
- Duration: up to a 2 month assignment.
- Hours: 36–40 hours per week. Schedule flexibility is supported around school or academic commitments, provided a best effort is made to pre-coordinate availability.
