Position: Senior Test Automation Engineer (Technical Lead)

We are seeking a highly skilled Test Automation Engineer who can serve as the technical leader of our QA automation function. This role is ideal for someone who is hands-on, deeply technical, and passionate about driving quality through automation. You’ll work closely with developers, QA analysts, and DevOps to design and implement reliable, scalable automated test solutions—and mentor others along the way.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and maintenance of robust automated test frameworks for web applications using tools like Selenium, Appium, or equivalent.
  • Develop end-to-end automated test coverage across UI, API, and functional layers.
  • Serve as a technical mentor to other QA team members by guiding best practices in test automation, scripting, and tooling.
  • Review and refactor existing automation frameworks and scripts for performance, maintainability, and reusability.
  • Collaborate with developers, business analysts, and DevOps to embed testing into all stages of the SDLC and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues within both test automation code and the applications under test.
  • Define test data strategy and ensure proper versioning and traceability of test assets.
  • Own test results reporting and continuously improve visibility into quality metrics.
  • Perform manual testing for edge cases or high-risk features when automation is not feasible.
  • Advocate for shift-left testing principles and contribute to continuous quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications & Skills

  • 5+ years of experience in test automation (web, API, and/or mobile), with at least 1 year in a technical leadership or mentorship role.
  • Strong proficiency in automation tools like Selenium WebDriver, PyCharm, Appium, or similar.
  • Proficient in one or more programming languages: Python, JavaScript, or C++.
  • Deep experience with version control systems (Git) and CI/CD tools (e.g., GitLab, Jenkins, Azure DevOps).
  • Familiarity with JIRA and QMetry
  • Experience leveraging AI tools to enhance, streamline, and accelerate automated testing processes
  • Solid understanding of software testing principles, QA methodologies, and SDLC/Agile practices.
  • Strong analytical and debugging skills with a focus on root cause analysis.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to clearly articulate technical ideas.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and capable of working independently in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
  • Experience integrating tests into Dockerized environments or using virtual test labs (e.g., BrowserStack, Sauce Labs).
  • Background in mentoring or training junior testers in automation best practices.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field—or equivalent hands-on experience.
