Role summary

Overjoy is seeking a Founding Product Manager to own a core product area end-to-end, from customer discovery through launch and metrics. This is a hands-on, builder's role focused on understanding customer needs, translating them into precise specifications, and prototyping solutions using AI coding tools like Claude Code. You will partner closely with engineering and design, define success metrics, lead launches, and contribute significantly to the product roadmap. The ideal candidate is comfortable interacting with customers, possesses strong technical communication skills, and thrives in a fast-paced startup environment. Experience with AI coding tools, B2B sales tools, or early-stage startup environments is a plus.

About Us

Overjoy is building Sales AI for B2B commerce. Our mission is to enable 10x sales teams by bringing modern software and AI to a long-underserved industry: B2B sales for consumer brands.

Over 800 modern brands like Tipsy Elves, P.F. Candle Co., and David Protein use Overjoy to find new prospects, run outreach, manage accounts, and scale wholesale revenue — without the bloat of legacy platforms.

We're backed by Bessemer, OSV, Floodgate and founders of Thumbtack, Alloy, and Unsupervised — and 6 of our own customers invested after using the product.

The Role

We're hiring our first Product Manager to own a core area of the Overjoy product end-to-end — from customer discovery through spec, build, and launch.

You'll work close to customers and close to the code: talking to brands to understand their real problems, turning what you hear into crisp specs, prototyping fixes yourself in Claude Code, and partnering with engineering to ship. You'll own the full loop from "customer pain → problem statement → prototype → shipped feature → measured outcome."

This is a builder's PM role. You won't be grooming a backlog or making roadmap decks. You'll be one of our most important sources of signal about what to build next — with the autonomy to act on it.

What You'll Own

  • Own a product area end-to-end — discovery, spec, prioritization, launch, and the metrics that prove it worked
  • Run discovery calls that surface real insight, not feature wishlists
  • Turn customer pain into precise, engineer-ready problem statements and specs
  • Prototype and ship small fixes yourself using Claude Code, without waiting on engineering
  • Partner with engineering and design to scope, sequence, and ship
  • Define success metrics up front and hold the work to them
  • Lead launches end-to-end: comms, customer education, follow-up
  • Dogfood Overjoy internally and feed what you learn back into the roadmap

You Might Be a Fit If You

  • Sit naturally between customers and engineering, translating one to the other
  • Ramp on complex, fast-changing products faster than people expect
  • Have sharp product judgment — you can cut scope down to the thing that actually matters
  • Get excited about prototyping with AI tools (Claude Code, Cursor, etc.) and shipping small things yourself
  • Ask sharp questions and synthesize what you hear into a decision
  • Want real ownership over outcomes and launches — not queues and tickets
  • Are happiest when half your week is talking to customers and the other half is building / writing / shipping

Requirements

  • Comfortable interacting with customers regularly via video, email, and chat
  • Strong technical communication — can write a clear, engineer-ready bug report or feature spec
  • Comfortable using AI coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, or similar) to ship real things
  • Willing to work in-person from our NYC office
  • Excited to work in a fast-growing startup environment

Extra Points For

  • Prior PM, APM, founding, or solutions/TAM role at an early-stage startup
  • Track record of using AI coding tools to ship features or prototypes you can point to
  • Experience in CPG, B2B sales tools, or wholesale
  • You've taken a customer insight all the way from discovery to a shipped launch

Why Overjoy?

Build for a real problem in a wildly underserved market.
Brand founders with multiple exits tell us, "I wish I had Overjoy when I launched my first brand." We're bringing modern software to a part of commerce that's been overlooked for too long.

AI that actually gets used daily.
This isn't hype. Our customers use AI daily — to find leads, write emails, qualify prospects, and drive sales — often without even realizing it's AI.

You're joining the ground floor.
You'll shape how we do product discovery, prioritization, and launches from day one — and define what those motions look like for years to come.

Our customers love us.
More than 5 of our customers have started agencies as a side business helping others use Overjoy. One joined our team full-time!

We're growing fast.
We 5x'd our revenue in 2025, and we're looking to do it again in 2026. We're scaling quickly — and so will your impact.

Why You Shouldn't Join

This isn't a 9-to-5 job.
We're doing hard things with a small team, and it's intense. We won't sugarcoat that.

You'll take full ownership and responsibility.
You won't just execute. You'll identify problems, shape solutions, and be accountable for the outcomes and launches you drive. That level of autonomy can be exciting, but also stressful — and it's not for everyone.

You'll wear a lot of hats.
One day you're on a discovery call. The next you're writing a spec, prototyping in Claude Code, and prepping a launch email. If you prefer clearly defined roles and boundaries, this might not be the right environment.

Perks & Benefits

  • Competitive salary + meaningful equity
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance (U.S.)
  • Free lunch & dinner around the office
  • Generous budget for laptops, monitors, and other equipment
