Role summary

The Forward Deployed AI Engineer will collaborate with business teams in investment, finance, compliance, and operations to identify and build AI-driven solutions. This role involves rapid prototyping, testing, and deployment of practical AI systems, leveraging generative AI tools and large language models. Key responsibilities include translating business challenges into technical solutions, building integrations with low-code and high-code tools, and ensuring solutions adhere to security and responsible AI best practices. Strong technical foundations in Python or TypeScript, APIs, version control, and cloud platforms are essential. Experience in financial services or consulting is preferred.

The AI Builder / Forward Deployed Engineer will work closely with business teams across investment, finance, compliance, and operations to identify high-value opportunities and build practical AI-enabled solutions. As part of a small and agile AI and Data team, the role combines technical development, experimentation, and cross-functional collaboration to rapidly prototype, deploy, and scale solutions that improve how work is done across the firm.

This role requires strong technical fundamentals, sound judgment, and the ability to translate complex business challenges into practical AI-driven systems that deliver real operational impact.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with business units to identify and prioritize high-value AI use cases and redesign workflows to leverage AI-native approaches.
  • Rapidly prototype and test solutions, iterating based on real operational needs and feedback from stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain integrations using a combination of low-code and high-code tools, contributing to the firm’s evolving data and AI platform.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders, including investment, finance, compliance, and operations teams, to validate and deploy practical solutions.
  • Evaluate where AI should be applied within processes and ensure appropriate human oversight where required.
  • Assess and recommend third-party tools and technologies for alignment with the firm’s technical architecture and strategic objectives.
  • Ensure solutions follow best practices related to security, access controls, and responsible AI usage.
  • Monitor developments in AI technologies and experiment with emerging tools to continuously improve internal capabilities and workflows.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Hands-on experience building and deploying applications using generative AI tools and large language models.
  • Strong technical foundations in Python or TypeScript, APIs, version control (Git), and basic cloud platforms.
  • Experience developing prototypes and translating business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with non-technical stakeholders.
  • Curiosity and initiative to rethink legacy processes and design more efficient, AI-enabled workflows.
  • Ability to operate in a fast-moving environment with a bias toward experimentation and iterative improvement.
  • Preferred qualifications include experience in consulting, customer-facing software engineering, or exposure to alternative asset management or financial services environments.
