Role summary

The Hybrid Cloud Platform Engineer will be part of an Agile development team responsible for creating and maintaining an agency-wide Platform as a Service (PaaS) capability. This PaaS environment will be deployed across multiple security domains and will support various application stacks and data services for multiple tenants. The role involves operating and maintaining Red Hat OpenShift in both cloud and datacenter environments, supporting OpenShift operators, deploying OpenShift to new sites, and collaborating with internal and external teams to meet integration requirements and ensure security compliance. The position also requires supporting data services and compiling detailed documentation.

Job Description Summary:

Work on a development team, utilizing Agile scrum methodology, which is responsible for developing and maintain agency wide Platform as a Service (PaaS) capability deployed across multiple security domains. The PaaS environment supports multiple tenants deploying a myriad of application stacks and data services

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

O&M of existing Red Hat OpenShift environment across multiple security domains in both Cloud and datacenter (vSphere) environments
Support OpenShift operators and frameworks including Crossplane, Kyverno, RedHat GitOps
Deploy OpenShift to new sites as they come online
Work with internal and external teams to understand integration requirements and scale existing platforms to meet them
Work with Security to ensure ongoing compliance and develop secure solutions
Support data services including RabbitMQ, Redis, PostgreSQL, Elastic Stack
Compile detailed documentation

Education/Experience:

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Programming, Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline.
5-8 years Developer experience
Meet DoD 8570 IAT Level II requirements including one of the following: Security+ CE, CND, SSCP, GSEC, GICSP, CySA+, or CCNA

Desired Skills:

Experience deploying and managing RedHat Open Shift in a cloud and/or vSphere environment
Experience with Amazon Web Services
Python, Shell scripting, Git
Linux distributions: RHEL/RHCOS, CentOS
CI/CD orchestration tools: GitLab CI, Jenkins
Container technology: Docker, Kubernetes, and Cloud Native Computing Foundation ecosystem in general
