Senior Solutions Architect
Role summary
Redhorse Corporation is seeking a Senior Solutions Architect to lead the technical design and scoping of large-scale, complex IT efforts for government programs. This role involves translating ambiguous requirements into structured solution designs, producing technical reference architectures, and integrating software, cloud infrastructure, data pipelines, and AI/ML components. The architect will engage with government customers, provide technical direction to delivery teams, and ensure compliance with government IT standards like NIST RMF and FedRAMP. A key focus is championing DevSecOps, cloud-native patterns, and Agile delivery principles. The position requires an active DoD Secret clearance and 10+ years of progressive technical experience, with 5+ years in a lead architect role supporting federal contracts.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end technical architecture for enterprise-scale government IT programs, from initial concept through production sustainment.
- Translate ambiguous, loosely defined requirements into structured solution designs, proactively identifying and documenting critical technical assumptions.
- Produce high-quality technical reference architectures, system-of-systems diagrams, and design documents suitable for government review.
- Design cohesive architectures that integrate software applications, cloud infrastructure, data pipelines, and AI/ML components.
- Engage directly with government customers to elicit and refine mission requirements, making well-reasoned technical assumptions when guidance is limited.
- Provide authoritative technical direction to delivery teams, resolving architecture conflicts and approving critical technical deliverables.
- Ensure all designs comply with government IT standards, including NIST RMF, FedRAMP, and DoD IL2–IL6 requirements.
- Champion DevSecOps practices, cloud-native patterns, and Agile delivery principles across all solution designs.
Required Experience/Clearance
- Active DoD Secret security clearance and U.S. Citizenship.
- 10+ years of progressive technical experience in IT architecture, software engineering, or systems engineering.
- 5+ years in a lead architect or principal engineer role supporting federal government contracts.
- Demonstrated experience designing complex, multi-component enterprise systems in cloud environments (AWS preferred).
- Proven ability to drive clarity and technical consensus on programs with incomplete or evolving requirements.
- Experience with full-stack development principles, API design (REST/GraphQL), and microservices architecture.
- Hands-on expertise with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform/CloudFormation) and container orchestration (Kubernetes/Docker).
- Deep understanding of CI/CD pipeline design and DevSecOps integration within DoD or civilian agency environments.
Desired Experience
- Familiarity with Redhorse-preferred tools such as GitLab, Jira, and Databricks.
- Experience architecting AI-enabled systems, including RAG pipelines, LLM integration, and MLOps lifecycles.
- Experience with data engineering frameworks, including data lakes, streaming pipelines, and Spark-based architectures.
- Certification in AWS Solutions Architecture (Professional level) or similar cloud credentials.
- Experience architecting within SAFe or other scaled Agile frameworks.
- Knowledge of DoD/IC enterprise architecture frameworks and secure supply chain practices.
