• About the Opportunity:

The Software Engineer V will contribute to the research, design, and development of software systems that support federal environmental data initiatives. This role involves analyzing user requirements, developing and updating software solutions, and enhancing system capabilities within a remote work environment. The position plays a key role in advancing technology infrastructure that supports data reliability and operational efficiency.

• Responsibilities:

• Analyze user needs and software requirements for design feasibility within time and cost constraints

• Create, manage, and deploy containers to support scalable and consistent application operations

• Collaborate with system analysts, engineers, and programmers to design systems and define project parameters

• Design, develop, and modify software using scientific analysis and mathematical modeling

• Establish system performance standards

• Develop or oversee software testing, validation, programming, and documentation

• Monitor equipment functionality to ensure compliance with specifications

• Manage configuration of requirements, code, and software configuration, providing guidance on configuration management policies

• Develop and maintain configuration management processes, plans, policies, SOPs, and related documentation

• Requirements:

• Bachelor''s degree in information technology or related field, or equivalent experience

• 8+ years of software engineering experience

• Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipeline development

• Extensive experience with GitLab

• Proven track record in software application development and implementation

• Experience with OpenShift and Kubernetes containerization

• Strong scripting skills in Python and Bash

• Knowledge of software configuration management concepts and methodologies

• In-depth understanding of branching, merging, and baseline strategies

• Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with team members

• Pay Range and Compensation Package:

• Salary range: $120,000 - $135,000
