Role summary
The Professional, Design Engineering – Aerostructures is responsible for the design, integration, and support of aircraft aerostructures for new development programs and in-service aircraft. This role involves creating and maintaining 3D digital mock-ups and 2D engineering drawings, ensuring designs meet airworthiness regulations, and supporting manufacturing. For senior profiles, responsibilities include designing metallic and composite structures, managing product structure with CAD/PLM tools, investigating complex design issues, and identifying optimization opportunities. A degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering and a minimum of 5 years of relevant aerostructure design experience are required.
Role Purpose The Professional, Design Engineering – Aerostructures is responsible for the design, integration, and support of aircraft aerostructures for new development programs and in‑service aircraft. The role covers primary and secondary structures, with consideration for systems installation, manufacturability, and airworthiness compliance.Key Responsibilities
Aerostructure Design & Definition
- Create and maintain 3D digital mock‑ups for primary and secondary aerostructure components from concept through production • Prepare and update 2D engineering drawings with integrated working instructions • Ensure designs meet Fit, Form, Function, Manufacturability, and applicable airworthiness regulations • Support stress, weights, and certification activities by providing accurate design definition • Provide continuous engineering support to manufacturing and in‑service operationsAdvanced / Composite Structures (Senior Profiles) • Design and integrate metallic and/or composite aerostructure components and assemblies • Manage product structure using CAD and PLM tools • Investigate complex design issues and develop effective technical solutions • Identify design risks and weight optimization opportunities • Review technical documentation and participate in design reviews • Act as a technical reference and support development of junior engineersQualifications Education & Experience • College or University degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering • Minimum of 5 years of relevant aerostructure design experience for professional/senior profiles • Aerospace manufacturing industry experience (asset for junior, required for senior) • Knowledge of airworthiness certification requirements (asset) • Experience with systems installation integration is an asset
