Role summary

The client is seeking an AI Engineer to collaborate directly with customers on significant AI challenges. This role involves hands-on design, development, and deployment of production software that delivers tangible business results. You will work extensively with client data, iterating rapidly based on feedback from enterprise clients. The ideal candidate will have a strong customer focus, be comfortable with ambiguity, and possess proficiency in Python or TypeScript for production systems. Experience deploying data-intensive or AI-powered applications is essential, along with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences. Experience with ML, LLMs, or agentic AI systems, and frontend development (React) are considered advantageous.

AI Engineer (client facing)

SF (open to NYC) / $180k-$280k + early stage equity

My client is hiring an AI Engineer to work directly with customers on high-impact AI problems. You will design, build, and deploy production software that drives real business outcomes, working hands-on with customer data and iterating quickly based on real-world feedback with enterprise clients.

This role is well suited to engineers from client-facing environments. My client has seen strong success hiring former data scientists and engineers from firms such as BCG, BCG X, McKinsey & Company, QuantumBlack, Bain & Company, Palantir, and similar applied AI or consulting-led organizations.

What My Client Is Looking For:

  • Strong customer focus and comfort operating in ambiguous environments
  • Proficiency in Python and or TypeScript in production systems
  • Experience deploying data-heavy or AI-enabled applications
  • Clear communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Willingness to travel occasionally, typically up to 20 percent

Nice to Have:

  • Forward-deployed or customer-facing engineering experience
  • Production experience with ML, LLMs, or agentic AI systems
  • Frontend experience, ideally React
