Frontend Engineer (Js, TypeScript)
Role summary
SIFT is seeking an experienced Frontend Engineer to design, develop, and optimize in-browser data pipelines and interactive visualizations for high-frequency telemetry data. The role requires deep expertise in TypeScript and React, with a strong understanding of systems-level concepts, web performance optimization, and data fidelity. Responsibilities include architecting scalable UI systems, managing memory and threading, and collaborating with backend teams on API design and serialization. This position offers a competitive salary and equity in a fast-growing technology company focused on redefining modern machine development.
About The Company
SIFT is a pioneering technology company dedicated to redefining how modern machines are built, tested, and operated. Our innovative platform provides engineers with real-time observability over high-frequency telemetry, enabling faster, more reliable development processes by eliminating bottlenecks. Founded by a team with backgrounds from SpaceX, Google, and Palantir, SIFT's solutions are tailored for mission-critical systems where precision, scalability, and reliability are essential. Our work is rooted in the demanding environments of aerospace and advanced engineering, reflecting our commitment to solving complex technical challenges and supporting the development of the most sophisticated machines in the world.
About The Role
We are seeking an experienced Software Engineer to join our dynamic team at SIFT. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and optimizing cutting-edge data pipelines and interactive visualizations that operate entirely within the browser environment. Your work will directly impact how engineers debug, analyze, and interpret high-frequency telemetry data, often involving complex, large-scale datasets that require meticulous attention to performance and correctness. You will collaborate closely with backend engineers to define API standards, serialization formats, and data query semantics, ensuring seamless integration across the stack. This position offers a unique opportunity to build foundational systems supporting complex machines and contribute to the evolution of our platform in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience developing web-based software solutions
- Deep expertise in TypeScript and proficiency with React or similar frameworks
- Strong understanding of systems-level concepts including memory management, thread coordination, and data serialization
- Experience optimizing web applications for performance, especially with binary data processing and GPU rendering
- Proven track record building software where correctness and data fidelity are critical
- Familiarity with browser threading and storage APIs such as Web Workers, SharedArrayBuffer, and OPFS
- Experience working with large-scale telemetry, scientific data, or mission-critical systems
- Ability to architect scalable, composable UI systems that expose complex data with high precision
Responsibilities
- Design and optimize in-browser data pipelines utilizing Web Workers, Apache Arrow, and persistent caching mechanisms
- Develop interactive, high-performance visualizations for time-series telemetry, frequency analysis, geographic mapping, and scatter plots
- Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, including bypassing React's render cycle, managing memory, and coordinating worker thread pools
- Architect modular UI components that expose full data fidelity, supporting zeptosecond-level timestamp precision
- Collaborate with backend teams on API design, binary serialization, and structured data query semantics
- Ensure software correctness and robustness in environments where data integrity is non-negotiable
- Contribute to the evolution of our platform infrastructure, including data processing pipelines and rendering engines
Benefits
- Competitive salary range of $200,000 - $250,000 per year
- Equity participation in a fast-growing, innovative company
- Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance plans
- Flexible work arrangements, including remote work options for qualified candidates
- Collaborative work environment with in-person team meetings twice a week and periodic full-week gatherings
- Opportunities for professional growth and impact on mission-critical systems in aerospace and engineering domains
