About The Role
Peraton is seeking a skilled UI/UX Designer (Journeyman) to join its team supporting the MODES III program, which serves Military Community and Family Policy (MC&FP). This position is remote and requires an active Secret clearance. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and delivering user-centered interfaces and interaction patterns for web and application products, including both public-facing and staff applications. The role involves collaborating closely with development teams, analytics leads, and stakeholders to ensure accessibility, usability, and optimal performance of digital solutions. The UI/UX Designer will create wireframes, prototypes, and design specifications, conduct usability testing, and maintain UX artifacts to promote consistency and best practices across projects. This position offers an excellent opportunity for a professional to contribute to impactful government projects within a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) or 3 years with a Master’s degree (MS/MA); alternatively, 7 years with an Associate’s degree (AS/AA) or 9 years with a high school diploma or equivalent in lieu of a degree.
- Demonstrated capability within the Cyberspace IT workforce, verified through an industry certification such as A+ or Network+, or documented military/educational training as per DoD 8140 Qualification Matrix.
- Active Secret clearance is mandatory.
- Proficiency in design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, Framer, Axure, Sketch, or InVision.
- Experience with accessibility standards, including Section 508 and WCAG 2.x.
- Knowledge of responsive and mobile-first UI design principles.
- Basic understanding of HTML/CSS for design handoff purposes.
- Familiarity with Agile/ Scrum methodologies and iterative development processes.
- Excellent stakeholder facilitation and communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Design and deliver user-centered interfaces and interaction patterns for MODES III web and application products, ensuring compliance with accessibility, usability, and performance standards.
- Create wireframes, high-fidelity mockups, interactive prototypes, and detailed component specifications for web and mobile platforms.
- Iterate designs based on usability testing outcomes and analytics data, incorporating user feedback to enhance the user experience.
- Support usability testing efforts, including moderated and unmoderated sessions, and synthesize findings into actionable design improvements.
- Ensure adherence to accessibility standards such as Section 508 and WCAG, working closely with development teams to implement compliant solutions.
- Develop and maintain UX artifacts including journey maps, personas, task flows, design pattern libraries, and component documentation to promote consistency and reuse.
- Collaborate with product managers, developers, analytics teams, and other stakeholders to translate research insights and performance metrics into prioritized design tasks and measurable UX KPIs.
- Participate actively in Agile sprints, delivering design assets within time-boxed cycles, and contributing to PI planning, demos, and retrospectives.
- Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in UI/UX design, integrating innovative solutions into project workflows.
