About The Role
We are seeking an experienced, automation-focused Quality Assurance Engineer II to join our Mobile team. In this role, you will be instrumental in ensuring the delivery of high-quality mobile applications that manage and control Hudl’s smart camera systems. These applications enable coaches and administrators to automate sports video recording and uploading processes seamlessly, eliminating the need for dedicated camera operators. You will serve as the testing expert within your cross-functional squad, leading testing efforts, and advocating for quality standards. Your primary responsibility will be to develop and implement automation strategies, collaborate closely with engineering, product, design, and Scrum teams, and actively challenge the team to uphold high standards of reliability, performance, and user experience. Qualifications

  • 2+ years of software testing experience with a strong understanding of the product lifecycle
  • Hands-on experience with iOS and Android mobile app automation testing
  • Technical proficiency in automation tools and frameworks for mobile applications
  • Customer and user-experience focused mindset
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and creativity in breaking software
  • Ability to adapt to shifting deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with global teams
  • Familiarity with API testing and backend service validation (preferred)
  • Exposure to contract testing tools such as Pact (preferred)
  • Interest or experience with AI tools for testing and automation (preferred)
  • Passion for sports, particularly American Football, and eagerness to learn more (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Lead and own the testing efforts within your squad, ensuring comprehensive test coverage and quality standards are met
  • Design, develop, and maintain automation test scripts for mobile applications on iOS and Android platforms
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Product, Design, and Scrum to align testing strategies with development cycles
  • Identify, document, and track defects, working proactively to resolve issues and improve product quality
  • Advocate for automation best practices and continuously evaluate opportunities to enhance testing efficiency
  • Participate in sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives to ensure quality considerations are integrated into the development process
  • Stay updated on emerging testing tools, methodologies, and industry trends to bring innovative solutions to the team
  • Support the integration of AI tools and contract testing practices to improve testing coverage and reliability
