About The Role
The Staff Motion Designer at BILL plays a pivotal role in bringing our brand to life through compelling motion visuals. Reporting directly to the Creative Director, this role involves leading the development and evolution of the motion discipline within the organization. The ideal candidate will be responsible for establishing and maintaining brand standards, style guides, and templates to ensure consistency across all digital assets. They will spearhead the creation of high-quality motion content for marketing campaigns, digital experiences, hype videos, educational content, email marketing, events, and more. This position requires a strategic thinker who can interpret complex creative briefs, collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, and deliver impactful visual narratives that align with business objectives. As a mentor and leader within the creative studio, the Staff Motion Designer will foster a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement. They will proactively analyze workflows, identify opportunities for operational efficiencies, and share best practices across teams. The role offers a unique opportunity to influence brand storytelling at a strategic level while developing cutting-edge motion design solutions that drive business growth.
Qualifications

  • 7+ years of proven experience in motion design with a strong portfolio demonstrating impactful work
  • Deep understanding of core motion design principles, including editing, compositing, UI/UX integration, and animation techniques
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (After Effects, Premiere Pro, Illustrator, Photoshop)
  • Experience with Figma and Lottie animations
  • Knowledge of 3D software such as Cinema 4D or Blender is a plus
  • Familiarity with creative AI workflows and emerging design technologies
  • Strong fundamentals in form, color, composition, layout, and typography
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present ideas clearly to senior leadership and stakeholders
  • Experience leading or mentoring creative teams and managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet tight deadlines
  • Authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship

Responsibilities

  • Lead the creation and execution of high-impact motion graphics for various marketing and branding initiatives
  • Develop, maintain, and evolve brand standards, motion style guides, and reusable templates
  • Interpret strategic creative briefs, propose innovative visual solutions, and iterate based on stakeholder feedback
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, product, and creative, to deliver cohesive visual narratives
  • Present work and ideas effectively to senior leadership and cross-departmental stakeholders
  • Proactively analyze workflows to identify efficiencies, reduce redundancies, and enhance team productivity
  • Mentor junior designers and contribute to a culture of creative excellence and growth
  • Stay current with industry trends, tools, and best practices to continually elevate creative output
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery without compromising quality
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams to understand their creative needs and challenges
  • Identify potential bottlenecks early and communicate project status transparently to ensure smooth execution
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the creative team and across marketing workflows
