About The Role
We are seeking an experienced, automation-focused Quality Assurance Engineer II to join our Mobile team. This role is pivotal in ensuring the delivery of high-quality mobile applications designed to manage and control Hudl’s smart camera systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mobile app automation, with the ability to lead testing efforts, develop automation frameworks, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. Your primary responsibility will be to serve as the testing expert, guiding the team to meet stringent quality standards and improve product reliability and performance. You will actively participate in technical testing discussions, challenge existing processes, and advocate for best practices in automation and quality assurance.
In this position, you will own the testing process, from planning to execution, ensuring that our products exceed user expectations. You will work closely with engineering, product management, design, and Scrum teams to deliver seamless, reliable mobile experiences. Your role will involve making strategic decisions about automation scope and implementation, leveraging your technical expertise to streamline testing workflows and accelerate release cycles. Additionally, you will be instrumental in identifying opportunities for process improvements, including integrating AI tools and exploring contract testing methodologies to enhance testing accuracy and efficiency.
Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2+ years of experience in software testing, with a focus on mobile applications
  • Strong understanding of the product development lifecycle
  • Hands-on experience with automation testing for iOS and Android platforms
  • Proficiency in automation tools and frameworks such as Appium, XCTest, Espresso, or similar
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and creative thinking in testing scenarios
  • Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate within diverse, cross-functional teams
  • Experience with API and backend service testing is a plus
  • Familiarity with contract testing concepts and tools like Pact is advantageous
  • Interest or experience in leveraging AI tools for testing and documentation tasks is a plus
  • Passion for sports, particularly American Football, and eagerness to learn more about sports technology

Responsibilities

  • Lead and own the testing efforts for mobile applications, ensuring comprehensive test coverage
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance automation frameworks for iOS and Android platforms
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define testing strategies and quality standards
  • Identify, document, and track defects, working closely with developers for prompt resolution
  • Implement and advocate for best practices in automated testing, continuous integration, and delivery
  • Evaluate and integrate AI tools to optimize testing processes and efficiency
  • Participate in planning, grooming, and review sessions within Agile/Scrum methodologies
  • Contribute to API and backend testing, ensuring end-to-end quality of products
  • Promote a culture of quality and continuous improvement within the team
