Your expertise will help design, optimize, and implement foundational AI models, including large language models, similarity search systems, and governance tools, ensuring they are scalable, efficient, and aligned with responsible AI principles.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, AI, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related fields plus at least 6 years of experience developing AI and ML algorithms or technologies
- Master’s degree in relevant fields plus at least 4 years of experience in AI/ML development
- Minimum 6 years of programming experience with Python, Go, Scala, or Java
- Experience deploying scalable AI solutions on cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure
- Proven ability to lead and mentor engineering teams and influence cross-functional stakeholders
- Strong foundation in engineering and mathematics, with expertise in hardware, software, and AI optimization techniques
- Experience developing advanced AI components, including LLM inference, similarity search, VectorDBs, and guardrails
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate complex AI concepts clearly
Responsibilities
- Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver AI-powered products that enhance customer and associate experiences
- Design, develop, test, deploy, and support AI software components such as foundation model training, inference, and governance tools
- Leverage open-source and SaaS AI technologies to build scalable and responsible AI systems
- Invent and implement state-of-the-art optimization techniques to improve system performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency
- Contribute to the technical vision and long-term roadmap of AI systems at Capital One
- Ensure AI models and platforms are developed responsibly, adhering to governance and ethical standards
- Mentor junior engineers and influence best practices across the engineering teams
- Stay current with emerging AI research and incorporate innovative techniques into production systems
