About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Fullstack Engineer to join our International Engineering team. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in expanding Whatnot beyond the US into key international markets including the UK, France, Germany, Australia, and more. Your primary responsibility will be to enhance the international user experience across our platform, ensuring a seamless and engaging experience for users worldwide. As a core team member, you will work across the entire technology stack to solve targeted user problems, unlock new features, and support the growth of our international footprint. You will lead end-to-end solutions, translating ambiguous business challenges into clear technical strategies, and driving delivery through experimentation and innovation. The role offers flexibility to work remotely or from one of our global office hubs, with the expectation that team members residing near our New York hub will participate in in-person planning, collaboration, and problem-solving sessions. This position is ideal for a proactive, autonomous problem solver with a passion for building impactful products and a strong sense of ownership.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
- 5+ years of software development experience in high-growth startup environments
- Proven experience in full-stack development, building scalable and high-performance applications
- Backend expertise with Python and experience working with Postgres databases is a plus
- Web development proficiency with React and GraphQL for API development
- Exposure to modern frontend frameworks such as Next.js is preferred
- Strong product instincts with a user-centric approach to problem-solving
- Excellent mentorship skills and commitment to fostering inclusive, supportive teams
- Demonstrated ownership of projects from inception through to deployment and maintenance
- Ability to ship features rapidly while maintaining high-quality standards
- Autonomous problem-solving skills with a quick aptitude for learning new technologies
- Proven track record of delivering impactful features on time
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and implement international features and enhancements
- Translate complex business needs into scalable technical solutions
- Lead end-to-end project ownership, ensuring timely delivery and quality standards
- Optimize the international user experience across all product touchpoints
- Experiment with new features and technologies to improve platform performance and usability
- Mentor junior team members and promote best practices within the engineering team
- Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and knowledge sharing sessions
- Support the deployment and maintenance of features in a production environment
- Engage with global teams to align on product roadmaps and technical strategies
- Continuously monitor and improve system scalability, security, and reliability
