Job Description

Job Title: Banking and Financial Services Intern (Data Engineering)

*This position is available as an on-site assignment in San Antonio.*

Summary:

TransPecos Banks is seeking a Data Engineering Intern to support the design, development, and maintenance of data pipelines, data models, and data quality processes within our cloud-based data ecosystem. This internship is ideal for students entering their junior or senior year, recent graduates, or early‑career individuals interested in data engineering, business intelligence, cloud technologies, or financial services analytics. We are looking for quick learners who enjoy problem-solving, can work in ambiguous environments, and demonstrate strong analytical and technical aptitude.

Wage Type: Hourly

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist in designing, building, and maintaining data pipelines and data objects.
  • Support ETL/ELT processes including transformations, data quality checks, and data validation tasks.
  • Help monitor pipelines and troubleshoot basic data discrepancies or errors.
  • Assist with database structure optimization and data warehouse support tasks.
  • Support the development and maintenance of documentation for data processes, pipelines, and workflows.
  • Collaborate with business SMEs, analysts, and engineering teams to understand data requirements.
  • Participate in basic data modeling activities and help maintain metadata and definitions.
  • Help implement data quality standards and support Master Data Management initiatives.
  • Stay current with emerging trends in data engineering, cloud technologies, and analytics tools.
  • Manage time effectively to complete assigned tasks on schedule.
  • Work well with others and on their own.
  • Manages their time to complete assignments on time.
  • Carries out responsibilities in a manner consistent with our values and operating principles, in accordance with policy and applicable laws, and with a commitment to commitment to continuous improvement and process excellence.
  • Any other duties as assigned.

Reports to: Designated Manager or HR

Qualifications:

Required Knowledge/Skills:

  • Working toward or recently completed a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Engineering, or another related field.
