Role summary

The Sr Clinical Data Analyst is a subject-matter specialist focused on Meaningful Use requirements within the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act. This role is responsible for managing measures data, including data architecture, reporting, and validation, to ensure compliance with regulatory stages. The analyst will review system configurations, assess impacts on Meaningful Use reporting and quality initiatives, and support attestation activities. Key responsibilities include performing data analysis on clinical and operational data, developing reports and recommendations, facilitating quality improvement initiatives, and potentially mentoring staff. Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills are required, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office and understanding of Protected Health Information (PHI).

DescriptionA Brief Overview

Compliance and achievement of Meaningful Use under the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act is critical for both patient care and financial reasons. The Clinical Data Analyst with a focus on Meaningful Use is a subject-matter specialist with an in-depth understanding of data structure in the source clinical systems as it relates to Meaningful Use requirements and the defined reporting specifications. This role is responsible for the management of the measures data including data architecture, data reporting, measure validation, workflow and technical systematic requirements needed to qualify eligible providers and eligible hospitals per defined regulatory stages. This role will review system configurations, and assess impacts to Meaningful Use reporting, as well as other health system quality initiatives. They will also share responsibility in all activities leading to attestations for Meaningful Use and maintenance of required audit histories through all phases of the national program.

What You Will Do

  • Use of Systems: Performs concurrent & retrospective electronic data collection from clinical and operational databases.
  • Data Analysis: Analyzes clinical and operational data, develops summary reports / recommendations, control charts / graphs, trends outcomes, identifies opportunities for improvement, collaborates with team members, and supports recommendations with data and judgment.
  • Communication: Supports and facilitates quality improvement initiatives in collaboration with Meaningful Use Director through meeting attendance, data preparation, leading analytical discussions, effective written/verbal communication skills, professional interpersonal skills, and keeps management informed of data requests.
  • Role Development: Progress skills to lead analytical training/education for decision support team, mentor staff, present outcomes to leadership and physicians, identify and correct data errors, proactively communicate opportunities for improvement, establish positive relationships with other departments, and be a primary resource for data requests within the UH System.

  • Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.

QualificationsEducation

  • Bachelor's Degree (Required) and
  • Master's Degree (Preferred)

Work Experience

  • 3+ years analytical experience (Required)
  • Experience within a healthcare environment desirable (Preferred)
