Role summary

Vesuvius, a global leader in molten metal flow engineering, seeks a skilled Automation Engineer to ensure the functionality and performance of their refractory technology products. This role involves conducting electrical, automation, and mechanical maintenance, monitoring robotic systems, managing maintenance schedules and budgets, and reporting on activities. The engineer will also train customers, supervise subcontractors, and communicate technical findings to internal teams. The position requires an Engineering Bachelor's degree or 5+ years of experience in the casting space, with a focus on maintaining industrial processes safely, efficiently, and sustainably.

Objective - Purpose - Mission

The high-level complexity of Refractory Technology requires a specific follow-up on the technical status, maintenance requirements and required technical activities to provide on-site to ensure Vesuvius products integration remains functional and continues performing after the commissioning.

The Service Engineer, thanks to his or her technical expertise on automation products, his/her knowledge of the customer process as well as his/her experience to conduct industrial follow-up and maintenance has the mission to drive maintenance activities in line with Vesuvius technical specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct Electrical and Automation & Mechanical maintenance work (Inspections, cleaning or specific actions) in respect to the Maintenance schedule and the Maintenance Technical Activities descriptions.
  • Follow-up the maintenance schedule and keep track on planned activities completion. Adjust and update the schedule of activities if necessary, according to customer production schedule.
  • Keep maintenance logs and report on daily activities. Ensure that all Technical & Maintenance activities are recorded and reported.
  • Record and take actions on reported technical issues or improvement opportunities communicated by Customer Technical team.
  • Monitor production key performances (KPI’s) of the robotic system. Keep track on pre-defined operational indicators and identify any deviation compared to the target.
  • Schedule required customer or customer’s sub-contractor maintenance activities in accordance with Vesuvius maintenance schedule and provide technical details about them to synchronize customer and Vesuvius maintenance activities.
  • Monitor equipment inventory (spare parts) and control maintenance budget. Trigger order requests when required by the maintenance activities.
  • Report and communicate with customer and internal stakeholders about Vesuvius Maintenance plan progress, expected planning and performances follow-up.
  • Allocate workload and supervise subcontractor staff to wok in line with Vesuvius procedures and instructions when specific work related to Vesuvius equipment are planned.
  • Coordinate with Local technical team or Remote technical team for specific activities requiring assistance for validation of modifications of troubleshooting.
  • Communicate any design or performance weaknesses identified to Vesuvius Technical team.
  • Provide the Customer with adequate training in the operation and maintenance of the System to enable the full potential of the System in terms of operational capability and optimization of refractory performance to be achieved
  • Provide a level of Customer Support that enhances the relationship with the Customer and increases the Company profile.
  • Ensure that all activities are performed with due regard to the health and safety standards applicable to the activity.

Education Requirements:

Engineering Bachelors - Mechanical/Materials/Automation OR 5+ years of experience working within the casting space.
