Role summary

Vortex Freight Systems is seeking a Senior Supply Chain Coordinator to manage end-to-end shipment coordination across North America. This role involves mentoring team members, handling high-priority shipments, optimizing carrier selection, and ensuring stakeholder communication. The position requires proficiency in Transportation Management Systems (Truckmate) and Microsoft Excel, with 2-4 years of experience in transportation or logistics coordination, ideally within a 3PL environment. Expertise in cross-border freight between the US and Mexico is essential. The role is 100% onsite in Mississauga, ON.

Job Overview:

As a Senior Supply Chain Coordinator, you will oversee and manage the end-to-end coordination of shipments throughout North America. This position will involve mentoring team members, handling high-priority shipments, optimizing carrier selection, and ensuring seamless communication with all stakeholders, including clients, carriers, and international teams.

Please note that this position is 100% in-person, at the Headquarters office located in Mississauga, ON, Canada.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Lead and oversee the planning and execution of shipment coordination across North America.
  • Monitor and ensure timely load tendering, dispatch, and delivery.
  • Verify accuracy of commercial documents (e.g., bond and invoice reconciliation).
  • Communicate with clients, shippers, and terminals to resolve shipment discrepancies.
  • Escalate and manage OSD (Overage, Shortage, Damage) issues promptly.
  • Maintain strong communication with the operations team on status updates or delays.
  • Source cost-effective carrier solutions while maintaining service quality.
  • Provide guidance and support to junior coordinators during peak workloads.
  • Ensure departmental procedures and escalations are followed appropriately.
  • Perform administrative tasks, data entry, and reporting as required.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Transportation, Supply Chain, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience sourcing carriers and dispatching.
  • 2 - 4 years of experience in transportation or logistics coordination, preferably in a 3PL environment.
  • Proficient in Transportation Management Systems (Truckmate) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proven expertise in managing end-to-end brokerage operations for cross-border freight between the US and Mexico.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus for cross-border coordination.
