About The Role
We are seeking a talented Software Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be instrumental in developing high-impact engineering projects that contribute to building a fairer and more transparent future for all. You will work on a collection of small, modular services primarily built on Ruby and JavaScript, utilizing both SQL and NoSQL databases, as well as message queues to handle asynchronous tasks. Your responsibilities will include owning the end-to-end development of features—from conception and design to implementation, testing, and deployment. Collaborating closely with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders, you will help shape new features that enhance our platform’s capabilities. You will also be responsible for maintaining code quality, ensuring security, and optimizing performance to support hundreds of thousands of transactions daily. Additionally, you will monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve production issues, ensuring the reliability and stability of our services. The role encourages experimentation, data-driven decision-making, and continuous improvement, providing opportunities for you to develop new web applications and contribute to product innovations.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of full-stack software development experience
- Proficiency in Ruby and JavaScript (or similar languages/frameworks)
- Experience with test frameworks and automation tools such as Cypress
- Strong understanding of RESTful API development
- Passion for Extreme Programming (XP) practices, Domain-Driven Design, and Continuous Delivery
- Experience working with SQL and NoSQL databases
- Familiarity with component-based design systems (bonus)
- Excellent documentation skills
- Strong ownership mindset from feature design to production release
- Ability to collaborate effectively with external stakeholders
- Enthusiasm for learning, innovation, and teamwork
- Proactive, action-oriented approach with resilience in ambiguity
Responsibilities
- Own the full lifecycle of product features, including design, implementation, testing, and deployment
- Partner with product, design, and other teams to define and develop new features
- Collaborate with engineering peers to architect and implement scalable solutions
- Develop, test, and maintain performant, reliable, and secure code capable of supporting high transaction volumes
- Monitor and troubleshoot production systems to identify and resolve issues promptly
- Engage with customers and internal stakeholders to understand needs and deliver impactful features
- Experiment with new ideas and validate customer needs through rapid MVP development
- Ensure high-quality code and documentation standards across all deliverables
- Instrument and deploy product experiments, utilizing data to inform decisions
- Contribute to the development of new web applications and features that enhance user experience
