Role summary

The Test Engineer is responsible for executing functional and in-circuit testing of printed circuit board assemblies (PCBA), identifying and troubleshooting defects, and ensuring product quality meets customer and industry standards. This role supports both production and engineering teams in validating electronic assemblies through manual and automated test systems. Key responsibilities include performing tests using ICT, flying probe, and custom fixtures, inspecting PCBs, troubleshooting faulty assemblies, developing test procedures, documenting results, and maintaining test equipment.

Job Summary

Test Engineer is responsible for executing functional and in-circuit testing of printed circuit board assemblies (PCBA), identifying and troubleshooting defects, and ensuring product quality meets customer and industry standards. This role supports both production and engineering teams in validating electronic assemblies through manual and automated test systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform in-circuit and functional testing using ICT, flying probe, and custom fixtures
  • Inspect PCBs for solder defects, misalignments, and component issues
  • Troubleshoot and repair faulty assemblies to component level
  • Collaborate with engineering to develop and refine test procedures
  • Document test results, failures, and corrective actions in test logs and reports
  • Support system integration and validation testing for new product development
  • Maintain and calibrate test equipment and lab inventory
  • Provide feedback to production teams to improve assembly quality and yield

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Proficiency in reading schematics, BOMs, and test documentation
  • Hands-on experience with soldering, rework, and PCB assembly
  • Familiarity with automated test systems (ICT, AOI, flying probe)
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • IPC certification (e.g., J-STD-001 or IPC-A-610) preferred
  • Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams

Preferred Experience

  • 2+ years in electronics manufacturing or PCB testing
  • Experience with data logging and test report generation
  • Knowledge of quality standards (ISO 9001, IPC) and ESD practices
  • Exposure to customer support or field-testing environments
