Role summary
Idol Wolf, a restaurant within 21c Museum Hotels, is seeking an engaging and enthusiastic Restaurant Server. This role acts as an ambassador for the Spanish-inspired menu and the unique art-filled atmosphere. The server will intuit guest appetites, make recommendations, and sell menu items, ensuring a high-quality dining experience. Responsibilities include following service steps, possessing in-depth knowledge of menu items, wines, and beverages, and maintaining a positive, efficient, and clean work environment. The position requires basic math skills, strong communication in English, and the ability to work flexible hours and meet physical demands.
Reports To: Restaurant Managers, Food & Beverage Director
General Purpose: The Restaurant Server is an engaging and enthusiastic ambassador for the restaurant, intuiting the guest's appetites through verbal and non-verbal cues, making recommendations, and selling any item on the menu to even the most reluctant palate. The Restaurant Server works accurately, efficiently, expertly prioritizes, and works to exceed guest expectations.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Reports to work on time and ready to work scheduled shifts.
- Follows all steps of service.
- Knows descriptions and ingredients of all menu items.
- Knows all wines by the glass and at least five wines in each category on the wine list in varying price ranges and styles.
- Knows drinks names, ingredients, preparation method, appropriate glassware, and garnishes.
- Knows specialty beverages, i.e., single malt scotches, cognacs, specialty drinks, beer list, etc.
- Sells menu items to increase overall sales.
- Serves beverages and food cheerfully and efficiently.
- Ensures that the service station is properly stocked.
- Completes all posted side work.
- Maintains a positive, friendly attitude with co-workers & guests.
- Provides prompt, accurate report of all income received during shift.
- Proven ability to thrive in a highly collaborative, fast-paced, team environment.
- Demonstrated ability to receive constructive feedback.
- Maintains a clean, orderly appearance in the restaurant service area.
- Assists/executes any tasks as assigned by supervisor.
- Follow all proper sanitation guidelines.
- Able to work flexible hours (nights, weekends).
- Responsible, dependable, punctual.
- Basic math skills.
- Strong communication skills; must be able to speak, read, and understand English.
- Clean and professional appearance.
- Demonstrates enthusiasm for all things 21c.
- Familiarity with and ability to use POS systems.
- Must pass a background check.
Education/Formal Training:
- High school or equivalent education required.
- 2 years of experience in an upscale dining environment preferred.
- Basic knowledge of Spanish food preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to carry a full-service tray comfortably.
- Must be able to stand and walk for long periods.
- Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds.
