About The Role
We are currently seeking a talented UX Designer to join our team on a contractual basis. This role is an excellent opportunity for experienced professionals with a background in maps, geo-maps, and geographic information systems (GIS). The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in designing user-centric interfaces, particularly in the context of geospatial data and sustainability initiatives. This position is based in San Francisco, CA, offering a hybrid work environment that combines remote flexibility with on-site collaboration. The engagement is initially for six months, with potential for long-term extension based on performance and project needs.
Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of experience working with maps, geo-maps, or Google Maps platforms.
• Extensive experience in UX design, particularly related to geospatial data and mapping solutions.
• Solid understanding of geo-sustainability concepts and their application within user interfaces.
• Proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including engineers, product managers, and stakeholders.
• Experience working in a large tech environment such as Google, Meta, Apple, Amazon, Microsoft, Nvidia, Uber, Lyft, Airbnb, or similar organizations.
• Must not be currently employed by or contracted with Google to ensure unbiased contribution to the project.
• Strong communication and presentation skills to articulate design strategies and influence decision-making.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate closely with engineering teams to communicate, negotiate, and influence design intentions, ensuring alignment with technical feasibility and project goals.
• Develop and guide design specifications, including mock-ups, prototypes, and product models, to facilitate seamless implementation.
• Utilize and propose new data metrics to evaluate product impact, understand user trends, and analyze industry benchmarks, including competitor analysis.
• Drive iterative improvements in design based on UX testing results and stakeholder feedback, ensuring the product meets user needs and business objectives.
• Engage stakeholders through effective communication of design approaches, addressing potential challenges and providing solutions proactively.
• Build consensus across diverse teams and secure support for design strategies to ensure cohesive product development.
