About The Role
We are seeking a dedicated Medicaid Enrollment Specialist to join our team and work closely with a prominent hospital in Upper Manhattan. This role is pivotal in assisting eligible hospital patients to enroll in the Third Party Health Insurance Premium Payment Program (HIPP). The ideal candidate will serve as a patient advocate, guiding individuals through the enrollment process, explaining program requirements clearly, and ensuring they understand their benefits. The Enrollment Specialist will act as a liaison between patients, hospital staff, and our organization, fostering positive relationships and providing exceptional service. This position offers a hybrid work environment, allowing flexibility while maintaining a strong onsite presence to support patient needs effectively.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Nursing, Education, Psychology, or a related field; a master's degree is preferred. Candidates should have at least five years of relevant hospital or patient-related experience, demonstrating familiarity with healthcare processes and patient engagement. Fluency in English is required, and proficiency in Spanish is highly desirable, as it will enhance communication with diverse patient populations. Strong interpersonal skills, a positive attitude, and a proactive approach are essential. Experience in sales or healthcare enrollment programs is strongly preferred. Candidates must be able to pass hospital credentialing, including vaccines, drug, and alcohol testing, and should have familiarity with NY Medicaid policies. Flexibility to work onsite most days and adapt schedules to meet patient needs is necessary for success in this role.
Responsibilities
- Create and maintain positive relationships with patients, hospital personnel, and community stakeholders to facilitate enrollment and support services.
- Serve as the primary onsite contact, providing guidance and advocacy for patients navigating the Medicaid enrollment process.
- Explain program requirements and benefits clearly, ensuring patients understand their options and obligations.
- Assist eligible patients in completing enrollment applications accurately and efficiently.
- Coordinate with hospital staff to identify eligible patients and streamline enrollment procedures.
- Maintain detailed records of patient interactions, enrollment status, and follow-up actions to ensure compliance and tracking.
- Stay informed about updates to Medicaid policies, hospital programs, and community resources to provide accurate information.
- Participate in training sessions and team meetings to enhance service delivery and stay aligned with organizational goals.
- Ensure all hospital credentialing requirements and compliance standards are met, including vaccination and drug screening protocols.
