About The Role
We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Medicaid Enrollment Specialist to join our dynamic team. This role involves working closely with patients at our Upper Manhattan Hospital partner to facilitate their enrollment into the Third Party Health Insurance Premium Payment Program (HIPP). As a key member of our organization, the Enrollment Specialist will serve as a patient advocate, guiding eligible individuals through complex enrollment processes, explaining program benefits, and ensuring they receive the support needed to access affordable healthcare coverage. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of healthcare systems, excellent communication skills, and a passion for community service. This position offers a hybrid work environment with opportunities for professional growth and meaningful impact within the community.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Nursing, Education, Psychology, or a related field; a Master's degree is preferred. Candidates should have at least five years of experience working within hospital or healthcare settings, demonstrating a successful track record in patient engagement or healthcare enrollment. Fluency in English is required, and proficiency in Spanish is highly desirable, with bilingual candidates strongly encouraged to apply. The candidate must possess a positive, enthusiastic attitude with a can-do approach and enjoy working with diverse populations. Familiarity with NY Medicaid and experience with hospital credentialing processes, including vaccines and drug testing, are essential. Candidates should also demonstrate success in sales or healthcare-related roles, showcasing strong interpersonal and organizational skills. Flexibility to work onsite most days and adapt schedules to meet patient needs is necessary, along with passing all required credentialing and compliance checks.
Responsibilities
The Patient Enrollment Specialist will be responsible for creating and maintaining positive relationships with patients, hospital staff, and key stakeholders. Core responsibilities include:

  • Serving as the primary onsite contact for patients, providing clear explanations of program requirements, and addressing any questions or concerns.
  • Developing and nurturing relationships with patients, hospital personnel, and community partners to facilitate seamless enrollment processes.
  • Assessing patient eligibility for the HIPP program and guiding them through the application process efficiently.
  • Advocating for patients by explaining benefits, assisting with paperwork, and ensuring they understand their healthcare options.
  • Coordinating with hospital departments to streamline enrollment procedures and resolve any issues that arise.
  • Maintaining accurate records of patient interactions, enrollment statuses, and program documentation.
  • Staying informed about updates to Medicaid policies and hospital protocols to ensure compliance and optimal service delivery.
  • Participating in team meetings, training sessions, and community outreach initiatives to promote program awareness.
