About The Role
We are seeking a dedicated Medicaid Enrollment Specialist to join our dynamic team and support our partnership with a prominent hospital in Upper Manhattan. The primary responsibility of this role is to facilitate the enrollment of eligible hospital patients into the Third Party Health Insurance Premium Payment Program (HIPP). The Enrollment Specialist acts as a crucial link between patients, hospital staff, and our organization, ensuring that patients understand their eligibility and the benefits available to them. This role requires excellent communication skills, cultural competence, and a compassionate approach to patient advocacy. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, detail-oriented, and possess a passion for improving healthcare access for vulnerable populations. The position offers a hybrid work environment, allowing flexibility while maintaining a strong onsite presence to engage directly with patients and hospital personnel.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess a bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Nursing, Education, Psychology, or a related field; a master’s degree is preferred. A minimum of five years of hospital or patient-related experience is highly desirable, demonstrating familiarity with healthcare processes and patient advocacy. Fluency in English is required, and proficiency in Spanish is a significant advantage given the community served. The successful candidate will have a positive, enthusiastic attitude, with a proven track record of success in healthcare sales, patient enrollment, or related roles. Strong interpersonal skills, cultural competence, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team are essential. Additionally, candidates must be able to pass hospital credentialing, including vaccination requirements, drug and alcohol testing, and background checks. Experience with NY Medicaid programs and familiarity with healthcare regulations will be considered a plus.
Responsibilities
The Enrollment Specialist will be responsible for establishing and maintaining positive relationships with patients and hospital staff, serving as the primary onsite contact for our organization. Key responsibilities include:
- Create a welcoming environment and build trust with patients and families to facilitate enrollment processes.
- Clearly explain program requirements, benefits, and eligibility criteria to patients and their families, ensuring they understand their options and rights.
- Assist patients in completing necessary documentation and applications for the HIPP program and other Medicaid-related services.
- Coordinate with hospital personnel to identify eligible patients and streamline enrollment procedures.
- Provide ongoing support and follow-up to ensure successful enrollment and address any issues or concerns.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of patient interactions, enrollment statuses, and program documentation.
- Stay updated on changes in Medicaid policies, hospital procedures, and healthcare regulations to ensure compliance and effective service delivery.
- Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and community outreach efforts to promote the program and enhance service quality.
