Northstrat is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer for an on-site role at Fort Belvoir, VA. About The Role
We are seeking a highly motivated Senior DevOps Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in Linux systems administration, cloud infrastructure management, and automation. This role involves supporting the deployment and management of scalable, reliable, and secure infrastructure primarily on AWS. The Senior DevOps Engineer will collaborate closely with development teams to streamline deployment processes, optimize system performance, and ensure high availability of our services. The position requires a proactive problem-solver with a strong background in Big Data solutions, scripting, database administration, and configuration management tools. Candidates must hold an active TS/SCI U.S. Government Security Clearance and be willing to work on-site at Fort Belvoir, VA, five days a week.
Qualifications
- Must possess an active TS/SCI U.S. Government Security Clearance and be a U.S. citizen.
- Minimum of 9+ years of experience in DevOps engineering with a bachelor’s degree in a related field, or 7+ years with a master’s degree, or 13+ years of relevant experience with a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong expertise in Linux system administration, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
- Proficiency with configuration management tools such as Ansible or Puppet.
- Hands-on experience with AWS services including EC2, S3, Lambda, and others relevant to infrastructure deployment and management.
- Extensive knowledge of PostgreSQL database administration and troubleshooting.
- Ability to develop and maintain automation scripts using languages such as Bash, Python, or Go.
- Familiarity with version control systems like Git and deployment pipelines.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills, with an ability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly.
- Understanding of Agile software development methodologies and related tools.
- Willingness to work on-site at Fort Belvoir, VA, five days a week.
Responsibilities
- Support the development and deployment of cloud infrastructure within AWS, ensuring scalability, security, and reliability.
- Automate deployment processes to streamline operations and reduce manual intervention.
- Manage and maintain cloud infrastructure, including provisioning, configuration, and monitoring of AWS resources.
- Collaborate with development teams to integrate applications into the infrastructure, ensuring seamless deployment and operation.
- Monitor production systems continuously, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions to prevent future incidents.
- Optimize system performance and implement best practices for high availability and disaster recovery.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends, applying innovative solutions to improve infrastructure efficiency.
- Develop and maintain scripts and automation tools to enhance operational workflows.
- Participate in on-call rotations and incident response activities as needed.
- Perform other duties related to DevOps and infrastructure management as assigned by leadership.
