Role summary
Alice & Bob is seeking a Nanofabrication AOI Software Intern to join their quantum computing team. This 5-6 month internship focuses on refining Automatic Optical Inspection (AOI) software to detect defects on quantum chips, aiming to scale yield and improve fab productivity. Responsibilities include optimizing defect detection pipelines, reducing test times, improving detection accuracy, and preparing software for 4-inch wafer fabrication. The role involves working at the intersection of software and cleanroom processes, requiring comfort with numerical coding (Python, Julia) and potentially knowledge of microfabrication environments. The intern will also be responsible for technical documentation and presentations.
Purpose of the role
As we ramp up production of our quantum chips, catching defects early is critical to scaling our yield. Join our nanofabrication team for a 5–6 month internship where you’ll get hands-on with our Automatic Optical Inspection (AOI) software — refining the pipelines that detect defects on real wafers, and helping prepare our process for the move to 4-inch wafer fabrication. You’ll work at the intersection of software and cleanroom process, with direct visibility into how your work shapes fab productivity. This internship will start in January 2027 !Responsibilities:
