HIL Test Engineer
Role summary
ALTEN Technology USA is seeking a HIL Test Engineer to design, develop, and execute Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) test cases for automotive embedded controllers. Responsibilities include building and maintaining HIL test benches using dSPACE and OPAL-RT, scripting automated tests with Python, and performing various testing types on ECUs like BMS and Inverters. The role involves integrating plant models with MATLAB/Simulink, executing communication tests using Vector tools, analyzing results, debugging issues, and documenting test reports. This position is crucial for validating automotive systems and ensuring software quality.

Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and execute HIL test cases based on system and software requirements
- Build, configure, and maintain HIL test benches using dSPACE (SCALEXIO, ControlDesk, AutomationDesk) and OPAL-RT
- Develop and maintain automated HIL test scripts using Python
- Perform functional, system-level, regression, and diagnostics testing on embedded controllers
- Validate ECUs such as Battery Management Systems (BMS), Inverters, Engine Controllers, Body Control Modules, and Power Generation Controllers
- Integrate plant models using MATLAB/Simulink and Stateflow for closed-loop testing
- Execute CAN, LIN, and J1939 communication testing using Vector tools (CANoe, CANalyzer)
- Analyze test results, debug issues, and support root cause analysis in collaboration with development teams
- Log, track, and verify defects using defect tracking tools
- Perform risk-based testing and support software release and validation sign-off
- Prepare and maintain HIL test reports, Software Validation Reports (SVR), and technical documentation
