Role summary

Alternatives is seeking a Residential Program Manager to oversee the daily operations of a residential home, ensuring a safe, healthy, and compliant environment for individuals with developmental disabilities. This role involves supervising Direct Support Professionals, managing household budgets and payroll, coordinating medical care and appointments, and facilitating person-centered active treatment. The position requires a blend of hands-on medical knowledge, program management, and staff leadership. The ideal candidate will foster growth for both residents and staff, promoting community inclusion and personal relationships. This is a full-time, onsite position reporting to the Executive Director.

Reports to: Executive Director

Location: Stratford

Function: To teach, supervise and coordinate the Direct Support Professionals. To facilitate the implementation of the Mission Statement. To ensure regulatory compliance for the twenty-four-hour operation of the home. To foster growth of the individuals in their home and within their surrounding communities. The position blends hands-on medical knowledge with program management and staff leadership.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Managerial experience and experience caring for and training of persons with developmental disabilities preferred
  • Medical or nursing experience
  • Have valid CT state driver’s license and other state and federal certifications
  • Must have the ability to work a flexible schedule
  • Flu Vaccine required

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Fiscal

  • Maintain and supervise the implementation and tracking og detailed accounts including household budgets, individual funds, petty cash, check requests and purchases, recreational funds, and grocery budget
  • Review and submit bi-weekly payroll

Residential

  • Facilitate and coordinate the maintenance, security, safety, and cleanliness of the home, vehicles, equipment, and supplies
  • Ensure the residence operates in full compliance with DDS and/or Federal regulations and agency policies
  • Support emergency preparedness, infection control, and risk management practices

Medical

  • Coordinate the health car services for all individuals, including medication administration, scheduling of all required and necessary medical appointments, auditing and ordering medications, and ensuring all physician's orders are followed
  • Ensure reports and medical orders are signed in a timely manner
  • Maintain effective communication with the LPN Health Specialist and Director of Health Services

Individuals Served

  • Plan, coordinate, and provide for person centered active treatment by ensuring the implementation of an individual's IP/OPS, including assessments, program development, periodic review, and ongoing revisions
  • Encourage and facilitate individual rights including choice making, community inclusion, and personal relationships with an emphasis on open communication with the Day Program Manager, Direct Support Professionals, and IDT members
  • Conduct regular day program reviews

Supervision

  • Provide and coordinate ongoing formal and incidental teaching, support, and feedback to staff
  • Promote overall professional growth and schedule and provide regular ongoing in-servicing as well as enhanced training opportunities for support staff
