Role summary
Alverno is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or Medical Technologist (MT)/Laboratory Scientist for a 36-hour per week position in Chesterton, IN. This role involves specimen processing, performing tests of varying complexity, reporting results, and participating in quality control procedures. The position requires an Associate's degree for MLT or a Bachelor's degree for MT/Laboratory Scientist, with a preference for at least 1 year of clinical laboratory experience. The role operates on a shift schedule including evenings and midnights, with weekend and holiday rotation.

Shift: Midnights/Evenings; 10:30 PM - 7:00 Am; 2:30 PM - 11:30 PM; As Needed: 4 hours call off coverage before or after shift; Weekend and/or Holiday Rotation

WHAT WILL YOU DO
This individual is responsible for specimen processing, test performance and reporting test results. Testing performed will include waived, moderate and high complexity tests as authorized by the Director. He/she will report results of all tests performed according to established procedures. In addition this individual will participate fully in all quality control procedures and comply with quality assurance and quality management standards within the department as outlined by the department, JCAHO, CAP, CLIA and other applicable agencies. He/she will perform specimen collection as necessary.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
MLT
Associates degree in a laboratory science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution.
MT
Bachelor degree in medical laboratory science/medical technology from an accredited college or university.
Or
Bachelor degree in chemical, physical or biological sciences.
At least 1 year of pertinent full-time clinical laboratory experience or training preferred.
