Role summary

American Equity Investment Life Insurance Company seeks a Quality Assurance Analyst II to ensure application products and services meet organizational standards and end-user requirements. This role involves test planning, design, and execution, including manual functional and regression testing, and executing automated tests. The analyst will analyze requirements, research production issues, file bugs, create test cases, and assist with test strategies and project reports. Experience in the insurance industry, particularly with annuity principles and products, is required. Proficiency in Microsoft applications and knowledge of QA tools are essential. Preferred skills include Salesforce, LifePRO, and experience with automation frameworks.

GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

The Quality Assurance Analyst (QA) II plans and conducts a wide range of quality control tests and analysis to ensure all application products and services meet organizational standards and end-user requirements. This includes performing test planning, test design and test execution. In addition to QA responsibilities, the Analyst also executes various administration and support items.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Engages in several areas of software testing: Manual functional testing, manual regression testing, and executing previously automated tests.
  • Analyzes requirements and communicates to QA Manager and project team members any issues found in them.
  • Writes Test Cases and documents test case traceability to requirements, utilizing a Test Case Management tool such as qTest.
  • Researches problems reported in production application, and communicates results with appropriate parties for resolution.
  • Finds and files bugs.
  • Uses available test data and creates new test data when needed.
  • Assists the QA project lead in creation of test strategy, test plans, and project reports as needed
  • Works as QA project lead on low to medium complexity projects.
  • Delivers assignments with high quality, readability, and timely delivery.
  • Creates QA estimations, Test Strategy, and Project Closure documents.
  • Creates and communicates the Daily Status Report for active projects
  • Proactively identifies test issues and formulates strategies to mitigate schedule impact
  • Creates tasks for offshore team according to test plan and daily changes.
  • Participates in automation framework creation.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

    EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or Finance or related field of study; plus related industry experience; or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Insurance Industry experience working with annuity principles and products along with related federal and state laws.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions.
  • Mathematical skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to analyze and synthesize complex information.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft applications and other software such as LifePRO.
  • Good business acumen with the ability to understand business implications of work.
  • Ability to work effectively in team environment.
  • Knowledge of software development life cycle and basic QE processes.
  • Knowledge of typical QA tools such as Test Case and Defect Management tools.
  • Uses available test data and creates new test data.
  • Familiar with the basics of AEL's applications and typical policy and agent lifecycle.
  • Drive to learn newer QA techniques, processes, and tools.
  • Possesses strong understanding of QE test process.
  • Understands AEL's application landscape and key integrations and policy and agent lifecycles.
  • Maintains the regression test suite for the assigned AEL applications.
  • Exhibits proficiency in one specialized testing skillset, such as:

    • - Browser and Mobile Compatibility

    - Device Testing

    - IVR

    - Salesforce

    - FAST

    - Production Parallel testing
