The Office Coordinator will provide high-level administrative support to the Corporate Secretary and Chief Governance Officer of American Express and will support the broader Corporate Secretary’s Office (CSO). This role is integral to the effective functioning of the CSO and its interaction with the Board of Directors, Board-level Committees, senior management, and key external stakeholders. The ideal candidate is a seasoned, highly professional executive assistant who is proactive, detail-oriented, and adept at anticipating the needs of the Corporate Secretary and a fast-paced governance function. Success in this role requires accuracy, sound judgment, discretion, flexibility, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a complex, dynamic environment. Strong communication skills, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to build trusted relationships across the enterprise are essential. This position offers a unique opportunity to work closely with senior leadership and a wide range of internal partners across American Express.

Minimum Qualification:

- Proven experience (at least 7 years) working in a fast-paced, complex, and dynamic environment with executives
- Exceptional organizational, administrative, and interpersonal skills, with demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment when interacting with senior leaders and key stakeholders
- Strong attention to detail with a consistent track record of timely follow-up and execution
- Excellent written, verbal and listening communication skills, with a positive solution-oriented approach
- High level of integrity and discretion, with the ability to handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately
- Ability to prioritize competing demands with minimal guidance and proactively identify and resolve issues
- Advanced calendar management expertise and working knowledge of administrative systems and processes (e.g., purchasing, travel, expense management, etc.)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Demonstrated ability to anticipate stakeholder needs and respond with efficiency and professionalism.

Preferred Qualification:

  • Prior experience supporting a Corporate Secretary’s Office or governance-focused team
  • Experience working with a secure Board portal, particularly BoardVantage
  • Intellectual curiosity and comfort navigating ambiguity in a complex organizational environment
  • Employment eligibility to work with American Express in the United States is required as the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for these positions.
