Role summary

Seeking an Optical Transceiver Reliability and Qualification Engineer to lead testing and qualification of internally developed optical transceivers. Responsibilities include developing and executing qualification plans, collaborating with vendors on testing, leading failure analysis to identify root causes, defining reliability standards based on industry best practices (Telcordia, IEEE), and analyzing test data to generate reports. Requires 3-5 years of experience in reliability, quality, or test engineering for optical components/transceivers, with a strong understanding of transceiver architectures, components, and semiconductor laser reliability. Familiarity with environmental stress testing and failure analysis tools is essential.

Who you'll work with

We are seeking an Optical Transceiver Reliability and Qualification Engineer to lead the reliability testing and qualification of our internally developed optical transceivers. As we prepare for upcoming prototype builds, you will partner closely with external vendors and internal engineering teams. You will drive reliability assessments, manage qualification execution, and lead failure analysis to ensure our products meet strict performance and quality standards.

What you'll do

  • Manage Qualification Plans: Develop and execute comprehensive reliability and qualification plans for optical transceivers from prototype to mass production.

  • Collaborate with Vendors: Partner with manufacturing vendors to oversee testing execution, review data, and ensure adherence to quality requirements at our HQ location.

  • Lead Failure Analysis: Investigate device failures during stress testing, identify root causes, and work with cross-functional teams on corrective actions.

  • Define Reliability Standards: Establish reliability test methods, environmental stress screening protocols, and life-testing criteria based on industry standards (e.g., Telcordia, IEEE).

  • Analyze Data: Review test data, generate qualification reports, and present findings to leadership and development teams.

Education and Experience

  • Degree: Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or a related field.

  • Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years of hands-on experience in reliability engineering, quality, or test engineering for optical components or transceivers.

Technical Skills

  • Transceiver Knowledge: Deep understanding of optical transceiver architectures, active/passive optical components, and photonic integrated circuits. Understanding of semiconductor laser and their reliability, FIT calculation, module qual standard like GR-468_Core

  • Reliability Standards: Familiarity with industry reliability standards such as Telcordia GR-468, GR-1221, and IEEE 802.3.

  • Testing & FA: Experience with environmental stress testing (temperature cycling, damp heat, biased life testing) and failure analysis tools (SEM, EDX, CSAM, optical microscopy).

  • Vendor Management: Proven ability to manage technical relationships and drive execution with external contract manufacturers or component suppliers. Ability to travel to the Asia CM factory.

  • Customer Support: Work with customer on the reliability requirement and debug.

  • 3

Diameter of a Binary Tree Find the diameter of a binary tree. Input: root = [1,2] Output: 1 Explanation: The longest path is simply the single edge connecting the root node to its only child.

  • 4

Iterator over a Binary Search Tree Implement an iterator over a binary search tree. Input: root = [7,3,15,null,null,9,20], calls: next(), hasNext(), next() Output: 3, TRUE, 7 Explanation: The iterator yields the smallest value (3), confirms more nodes exist, then properly yields the next in-order value (7).

  • 5

Sort a String by Frequency Sort a string by the frequency of its characters. Input: s = "cccaaa" Output: "cccaaa" or "aaaccc" Explanation: Both 'c' and 'a' appear three times, so sorting them by descending frequency keeps them grouped equally.
