Role summary

AIUC is seeking a founding Security Lead to establish and own security for a company focused on underwriting AI agent security and reliability. This role involves shaping security standards (AIUC-1), defining agentic threat landscapes, acting as the external security voice, building core security infrastructure, and managing security policies and incident response. The ideal candidate has deep experience in SaaS/AI security, understands enterprise evaluation of AI vendors, possesses technical fluency, and is passionate about defining the future of AI agent security. This is a unique opportunity to influence industry standards and build a trusted security function.

About AIUC

AIUC builds standards and insurance for frontier AI. Our mission is to Underwrite superintelligence. We exist because risk, not capability, is becoming the binding constraint on AI being useful. History offers lessons for how to build confidence in new technology; electricity burned down houses until insurers funded Underwriters Laboratories (UL) to certify products against their standards. Today, the UL mark is a trustmark on every light bulb in America. We’re building that for AI.AIUC-1, our standard for agent security, serves frontier builders like Cursor, Lovable, ElevenLabs, and Harvey. We've raised $55m from Ribbit, First Harmonic and Nat Friedman to audit frontier AI. Our team comes from METR, Anthropic, McKinsey, and OpenAI. Come join us.

The Role

AIUC certifies AI agents based on security, safety, and reliability. As our founding security lead, you will own security at a business that is built upon trust. Our stakeholders are CISOs at Fortune 500 enterprises and the world's fastest-growing AI companies. They trust us to tell them whether their systems can be trusted and that requires internal credibility, controls, and posture.

AIUC-1 as a standard is paving the way for agentic security, your expertise will directly influence what this means across the industry. Our security function will be what other companies will turn to as the playbook.

This is once in a life-time opportunity, and in practice you will:

  • Shape and evolve AIUC-1's security requirements as the agentic threat landscape changes, from prompt injection, adversarial attacks, jailbreaks, MCP and A2A risks

  • Be AIUC's external security voice on what AI agent security means in practice, through client conversations, consortium sessions, and thought leadership

  • Build and manage our core security infrastructure and build a world-class security posture, develop and enforce security policies and incident response across the organization

  • Be the practitioner's lens to how enterprises assess AI vendor security today

  • Handle enterprise client security and collaborate with our commercial team

What we're looking for

We are looking for someone who has spent years in security and is now ready to use that expertise to shape a standard. You are as comfortable in a room with a CISO as you are in the technical details, and you would rather write the playbook than implement someone else's.

You'll need to have:

  • Deep experience in security, at a SaaS / AI / PS known for its rigour, with ownership spanning both strategic, technical and operational work

  • Deep familiarity with how enterprises evaluate AI vendor security

  • Technical fluency across the core stack

  • Expertise and strong communication skills within complex security topics

  • Passion about AI-specific security risks and a strong will to shape and define the new standard in its industry

Our Values

We are in the business of building trust. We take our values seriously and treat them as commitments to each other, held to the same bar as the ones we make to customers.

  • Strong back: high standards, keep our promises, work hard.

  • Fast feet: experiment, cut scope, take delight in pace.

  • Eyes up: wrestle with the mission, and let where AI is heading shape our strategy, our teams and our day-to-day work.

  • Open heart: say the scary thing, create connection, make room for emotions.

Underwriting superintelligence is our life's work. If you want it to be yours, apply now.
