Role summary

Astro Mechanica, an aerospace company, is seeking a Senior IT Help Desk Technician to be the primary point of contact for IT support. This role involves resolving hardware, software, account, and network issues for Windows, macOS, and Linux users, leading new hire onboarding, and supporting Microsoft 365 GCC High. The technician will manage devices via Microsoft Intune and Jamf, assist with Okta sign-in and MFA, troubleshoot network issues, and mentor junior technicians. A strong understanding of CMMC 2.0 and ITAR/EAR requirements is preferred. The ideal candidate has 3+ years of IT help desk experience, excellent communication and people skills, and a customer-first attitude.

ABOUT US:

Astro Mechanica is a vertically integrated aerospace company developing a scalable technology platform to power critical infrastructure, mission operations, and the future of flight. We apply aerospace engineering and quality standards across our products, delivering high performance, reliability, and efficiency for the most demanding operating environments. Astro Mechanica is backed by leading venture and strategic investors, including Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), Giant Step Capital, United Airlines Ventures, and Voyager Ventures.

WHO WE ARE:

We’re a team of passionate engineers dedicated to advancing aerospace. We’re generalists with specialist depth, united by a flat structure and a shared obsession with building things that work well. We move fast, stay pragmatic, and let engineering excellence speak louder than hierarchy.

WHO YOU ARE:

You’re the face of our IT department. When someone has a problem, you’re usually the first person they talk to, and you leave them feeling heard, helped and a little more confident with their tools. You enjoy people as much as technology: you’re patient, approachable and good at explaining technical things in plain language to engineers, executives and new hires. You’re the kind of person who walks over to someone’s desk instead of just closing a ticket, and who notices when a team is struggling before they ask. You also have solid technical depth across Windows, macOS and Microsoft 365. You know that in a regulated environment, good service and good security go together.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Be the friendly, go-to point of contact for IT support across the company, in person, on chat and through tickets

  • Build strong relationships with teams across engineering, operations and leadership so IT is seen as a partner, not a roadblock

  • Resolve escalated hardware, software, account and network issues for Windows, macOS and Linux users

  • Lead new hire onboarding: set up laptops and accounts, and walk people through our tools and security practices on their first day

  • Support Microsoft 365 GCC High, including user accounts, email, SharePoint, OneDrive and Teams

  • Manage devices through Microsoft Intune and Jamf: enrollment, apps, updates and compliance

  • Help users with Okta sign-in and MFA, and explain new security controls in a way people understand and accept

  • Troubleshoot Ubiquiti and Cisco network issues at the desk and in the office

  • Mentor junior technicians, and share what you learn through clear documentation and how-to guides

  • Gather feedback from users and suggest improvements to our tools, processes and support experience

  • Follow CMMC 2.0 and ITAR/EAR requirements in day-to-day support, and help keep our environment compliant

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

  • 3+ years of experience in an IT help desk or desktop support role

  • Excellent communication and people skills, with a genuine enjoyment of working with others

  • A patient, positive, customer-first attitude, even when things are busy

  • Experience supporting both Windows and macOS users; Linux experience is a plus

  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Intune and Jamf

  • Experience supporting Microsoft 365; GCC or GCC High experience is a strong plus

  • Familiarity with Ubiquiti and Cisco networking

  • Familiarity with CMMC 2.0 and ITAR/EAR requirements, or a willingness to learn quickly

  • 2+ years of experience working in a startup environment

  • Ability to work full-time in office, Monday through Friday

  • Must be a U.S. citizen

PERKS & BENEFITS:

  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance, including Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA)

  • 401(k) program and transparent stock option plan

  • Self-managed and flexible time-off policy, including PTO, paid holidays, and sick time

  • Flexible work environment
