About Austin Sensing Company

Austin Sensing Company builds radar, acoustic, and RF sensors for defense, public safety, critical infrastructure, and autonomous systems. We design and manufacture our hardware in Austin, Texas, with a focus on making high-performance sensing reliable, affordable, and widely available.

About the Role

We’re hiring an Electronics Engineering Technician to build, test, and troubleshoot the electronics behind our sensing systems. You’ll work directly with engineers on prototype boards, hardware modifications, test setups, and production assemblies.

This is a hands-on lab role. You’ll solder and rework boards, build cable harnesses, take measurements, and help find the cause of hardware failures. We’re looking for someone who does careful work, keeps clear records, and can turn engineering instructions into reliable hardware.

What You’ll Do

  • Assemble, inspect, and modify circuit boards and electronic assemblies for development and production.

  • Perform soldering and rework on surface-mount and through-hole components, including fine-pitch devices.

  • Build and repair cable harnesses, connectors, and test cables from drawings and wiring instructions.

  • Support engineers during board bring-up by checking power rails, connections, and signals.

  • Set up and run electrical tests using oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, electronic loads, and other lab equipment.

  • Troubleshoot failed boards and assemblies, documenting symptoms, measurements, and repairs.

  • Install hardware modifications and verify that changes match engineering instructions.

  • Program devices, load firmware, and run functional tests using established procedures.

  • Build and maintain test fixtures that support engineering validation and production testing.

  • Record board revisions, serial numbers, test results, and rework history.

  • Maintain lab equipment, tools, and component supplies, following ESD controls and safe handling practices.

What You’ll Bring

  • Experience assembling, testing, or repairing electronic hardware.

  • Strong soldering and rework skills for surface-mount and through-hole components.

  • The ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams, assembly drawings, and test instructions.

  • Experience using oscilloscopes, multimeters, bench power supplies, and other electronic test equipment.

  • A working understanding of circuits, component functions, polarity, and electrical measurements.

  • The ability to troubleshoot methodically and recognize when an issue needs engineering input.

  • Careful workmanship, clear documentation, and consistent attention to detail.

  • Familiarity with ESD precautions and safe lab practices.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience supporting prototype development and new board bring-up.

  • Experience with RF electronics, coaxial cables, and RF connectors.

  • Familiarity with spectrum analyzers or vector network analyzers.

  • Experience with fine-pitch rework, microscope inspection, or identifying PCB assembly defects.

  • Experience using Python or other tools to run automated tests.

  • Familiarity with IPC workmanship standards.

  • Technical training, an associate degree in electronics, or equivalent practical experience.

Benefits

  • 401(k)

  • Insurance benefits
